JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 11)

CBS News, of course, will stay on the air live throughout this day to keep you up to the minute on the latest developments in the assassination of the President and in the inevitable aftermath that will follow him.

Mrs. Kennedy was with the President uh in the same car. She was not hurt.

The President’s mother and father were told of the that the President was shot by a workman in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts where they are. The report came to them before it was known that the President had been killed.

Man in the background takes a puff of a cigarette!

Odd that a workman would know about the shooting and death of JFK

before the parents knew.

I guess the workman worked for someone that would know.

They never reveal the name of that workman. Maybe puffing is a clue.

Reports were that neither the President’s father, former Ambassador Joseph F. Kennedy or Joseph P. Kennedy  rather, nor the President’s mother, had any comment to make when told of the shooting.

The President’s father is now a semi-invalid as a result of a stroke a few years ago and he was napping when the word came. The President and Mrs. Kennedy had planned to spend Thanksgiving Holiday at Hyannis Port next week.

We will have a live switch to the United Nations uh video

Weird

This pops up on the screen for a second or so. I’m sure it means something ….

just not sure what OR why this was inserted! Here is a little about that title:

(1:13-1:14/10:44)

“Anatole de Keroual is captured by the British in the Napoleonic war and imprisoned in the dungeon of Edinburgh Castle with six companions. Floria Gilchrist, coveted by the fortress commander, Major Edward Chevenish, falls in love with Anatole, and he with her, but Chevenish refuses Floria’s plea for a pardon for Anatole unless she agrees to marry him. Anatole engineers an escape from the prison, and goes to London to straighten out affairs of the estate of his uncle, Viscount Victor St. Ives. There he is apprehended and put on trial for murder.”

Back to Charles Collingwood:

only Adelai Stevenson at the UN accepting condolences.

There is no soun sound to this but the United Nations like other institutions is uh adjourning its deliberations to pay honor to the President of the United States.

Pope Paul in Rome has been informed of the President’s death.

Cardinal Spellman there in Rome for the Ecumenical Council, his voice shaking with emotion said,

I am saying the Rosary for him now.”

‘ The Cardinal said that President Kennedy’s death …..

President Kennedy, of course, a fellow co-religionist of Cardinal Spellman.

The Cardinal said, “it was a great loss to the country and to the world.”

Cardinal James McIntyre of Los Angelos and Cardinal Ritter of St. Louis called together the student priests of Rome’s North American College to recite prayers for Kennedy.

Cardinal McIntyre said that Cardinal Ritter and myself were having dinner there in Rome.

It’s dinnertime there, because of the time difference.

When they heard the astounding news of the President’s death we are shocked, grief-stricken. Our hearts are pained.

I’m suspicious of their alibi!

Hardly anyone else tells where they are

at that time

and/or what they are doing unless they were at the scene of the crime.  Seems very presumptive!

The name Ritter makes me think of John Ritter the actor who starred in a weekly comedy called ”Threes Company.”

What seems stranger to me is that the person who hands Jackie Kennedy or her double the Lamb Chops Puppet over the fence line at the airport in Dallas a half hour before the assassination of President Kennedy looks very much like John Ritter with a hat on his head. He also looks like the man in the picture that I found of Billy Graham and two friends at Wheaton College. The pictures of both are in the same articles/posts linked below. Check it out:

Rev. Wilkerson, Evangelicalism and the Covenant With Many

or

Rev. David Wilkerson, Billy Graham and Evangelicalism

(Both are similar posts!)

West Germany Chancellor Ludwig Eirehart who was to have visited President Kennedy on Sunday was informed of the President’s death while on the way back to Bonn from Paris. “The news fills the German people with deep grief,” said Chancellor Eirehart. “All those who had the fortunate opportunity to make the personal acquaintance of President Kennedy, in particular the people of Berlin where of course the President had recently visited, are deeply grieved in this hour.”

The Premier Designate of Italy Aldo Morro said,

his stature as a politician in his great country and on the international scene was growing

in these years of a cor courageous policy of renewal.”

“The reason for which he was struck in a mad way

raises President Kennedy

even more on the moral plane

as a great defender of man’s dignity and equality,”

said the Italian Premier Designate in Rome.

French Premier George Pompedoui exclaimed, “It is atrocious. It is frightful. I am overwhelmed.”

In Madrid, a foreign office spokesman said, “It is horrible, absolutely horrible, a most barbarous thing. Everyone here is horrified.”

And thus international differences, disputes, are swept away in the moment of shock, stun, grief.

The Italian News Agency Tass in reporting on it’s wires to it’s subscribers the death of the President asserted that he had been killed by a right wing American extremist. There is no confirmation of that. A man has been arrested in Dallas, a 30 year old white man who was carrying a gun. We know nothing of his political persuasion. But Dallas, Texas is considered a center of conservative philosophy and finance. It was on Oct. 24th that Adelai Stevenson our Ambassador to the United Nations, whom you saw a moment ago receiving condolences of representatives of other countries to the United Nations, that Adelai Stevenson making an appearance on United Nations Day in Dallas was spat upon by one heckler and struck with a placard by another. It was believed that uh the strong emotions which run in Texas and other parts of the South may have been part of the context of attitudes which resulted in the tragic occurence today.

It is believed that the President’s body will be moved shortly to Washington. Traditionally, funeral services for Presidents who die in office are held in the Capitol. A Presidential Spokesman, a White House spokesman told newsmen that Governor Connally who had been riding in the same open limousine with the President had been wounded in the right chest. Connally ha was rushed into surgery in the hospital for a 2 hour emergency operation. He is said uh to be in serious condition, but the doctors say that his vital forces are strong. (licks)

A Lieutenant of the Secret Service, Lieutenant Kominski, said that the assassin’s weapon appears to have been a high-powered army or Japanese rifle of about 25 caliber. The rifle had a scope sight on it at according to the Secret Service Lieutenant. (licks) The entire building where the sniper was located was evacuated and people working in the building at the time of the shooting were questioned.

This morning President Kennedy had telephoned Vice President John Nance Garner who had been Roosevelt’s Vice President, as you remember, congratulating him on his 95th birthday where Vice Presi where former Vice President Garner lives in New Valdi, Texas. And according to this report Garner’s end of the conversation went this way God Bless you Mr President. You’re my President and I love you. I hope you stay there forever. Thank you, Mr. President. God bless you. The words of former VIce President John Nance Garner 95 years old in Texas this morning. One of the last telephone calls that President Kennedy apparently made.

This is what we know of the assassination as it took place this morning. President Kennedy was traveling in a motorcade through the streets of Dallas before a a generally enthusiastic crowd, in some places a conspicuously enthusiastic crowd of a quarter million people. With Mr. Kennedy in the open limousine, the White House Bubble Top, which is so familiar to those who have seen the President on television or in person as he travels throughout the country. With the President were Governor John Connally of Texas, Mrs. Kennedy, and Mrs. Connally. Suddenly there were shots. An eye witness said that he saw them, saw them, fired from a window in a warehouse building overlooking the route from downtown Tallis Dallas out to the Trade Mart where the President was to appear.(licks) Bullets hit Mr. Kennedy in the forehead and Governor Connally in the chest. The two men were seen to slump into their wives arms. Neither Mrs. Kennedy nor Mrs. Connally were hurt.

One report has said, still not confirmed, that one of the Secret Service men accompanying and guarding the President was killed by the gunfire.

Then convoyed by Police the limousine raced off at top speed to Parkland Hospital which was 5 minutes away. Meanwhile Police and Secret Secret Service agents moved in on the assassins searched the building and an arrest of one man armed with a rifle is reported.

The President and the Governor were taken to the hospital’s Emergency Room. The President was not moved from there and died there. The Governor was moved to an operating room and after an operation is reported in serious condition, but the doctors appear to be hopeful.

Dallas motorcycle officers who were ranging along beside the cavalcade took off across a field in the direction from which the murderer apparently had fired. One officer raced to the foot of a nearby railroad embankment and climbed to the tracks above gun in hand. No one knew quite where the shots had been fired for quite a long while. Apparently they were fired from a building and not from one of the knolls which rose above the road.

White House Secretary Press Secretary the acting Press Secretary Malcom Killduff said that the President’s body will be flown to Washington this afternoon.

The Dallas Sheriff’s Department said a rifle had been found on a staircase on the fifth floor of the building near the scene where it is now believed the from where the shots were fired. It was a 7.65 Mouser, German rifle familiar to those who served in WWII. The German made army rifle had a telescopic sight, one shell was left in the chamber, three spent shells were found nearby. Most of the witnesses most of those who were in the cavalcade as they attempt to recollect the sudden and confused events which took place say that they heard three shots which uh checks with the fact that three shots had been fired one still found in the Mouser with which the assassin was apparently armed.

Democratic Senator from Texas Ralph Yarborough who like most other Texas Politicians these days have been engaged in hot political infighting there was riding three cars behind President Kennedy and he told newsmen in a choked and emotional interview (the young man at CBS Studio coughs in background)  that you could tell that something awful and tragic had happened. Senator Yarborough said that I could see a Secret Service man in the President’s car leaning on the car with his hands in anger, anguish, and despair. I knew then said Sen. Yarboroughthat something tragic had happened.

JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 12)

Charles Collingwood reporting:

We continue to get reports from foreign countries as the word reaches the Chiefs of State and simple people in other countries of

the death of the American President.

As is always happens on these occasions shock ahh is the dominating note of the reports from abroad.
.

The slip of the tongue ” Shock ahh” reminds me of “Shock and Awe”!

What is odd about this is that there is a man that seems to be casing the reporters, especially Walter Cronkite in the CBS News Room in earlier reports looks like a young George Bush Jr.

Weird!

“Shock and Awe (technically known as rapid dominance) is a military doctrine based on the use of overwhelming power, dominant battlefield awareness, dominant maneuvers, and spectacular displays of force to paralyze an adversary’s perception of the battlefield and destroy its will to fight. The doctrine was written by Harlan K. Ullman and James P. Wade in 1996 and is a product of the National Defense University of the United States.”

I wonder if James P. Wade is related to Henry Wade?

CBS News and JFK (A Lot of Lickin’ Goin’ On)

Judge Sarah T. Hughes was the judge that swore in LBJ as President after the death of JFK on a plane using a Catholic bible

and she also was also involved in Roe vs. Wade:

CBS News and JFK (The Exchange) Parts 31-32

Coincidental?

I tried to find young pictures of George Bush JR., but had no luck. The reactions of the CASING PACING MAN to certain subjects or words used by Walter Cronkite such as et and just his odd behavior in the first few hours after the assassination of JFK seem to be Texas sensitive. George Bush is a Texan. Probably just a coincidence! Although his dad was a leader of the CIA in that time period when President Kennedy was assassinated, I think, although Pres. Bush Sr denies it? Even his body language seems similar. The fact that George Bush was evangelized by Billy Graham and Billy Graham appears to be a participant also seems odd. Another interesting link George Bush said that when he looks in Pope Benedict’s eyes that he sees God.

Pope Benedict and his brother George also are participants and their picture was taken with President Eisenhower and a young Joseph Ratzinger is represented in that picture as being the Chief of the Secret Service, Chief Rowley. Not only that both are in the background of the Manhattan street man interview in the post following called

CBS News and JFK (Well, I Was a RaDIO) Parts 14-15

starring Amanda Plummer and Ruth Gordon of Rose Mary’s Baby. So I guess they are involved in some cap-a-city, as well.

The late Rev. David Wilkerson at the airport in Dallas also seems to be involved in some capacity with this affair.

The pastor of Highland Park Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas – Dr. William Dickinson Jr who also looks like some kind of high official of either the Secret Service, CIA,  or Police who arrives at the scene of the School Book Depository directing other officials which occurs before he arrives at the Trade Mart an hour later to “give a word” and/or the BENEDICTION at the end of Part 5 of this series.

The Second Vatican Council of the Roman Catholic Church just happens to be occurring in that same year and the beginning of the Neocatechumenal Way and Opus Dei.

Another person who gives his whereabouts and who he is with at the time of the assassination, ie an alibi, is Billy Graham in a book Billy Graham wrote called Just As I AM which I wrote about in the post called:

Rev. David Wilkerson and Evangelicalism

which also includes a whole bunch of interesting activities at the airport  in Dallas and very strange behavior of Secret Service Agent Jack Ready/Billy Graham, Jackie Kennedy, Secret Service Agent Roy Kellerman and others which I hope you will take time to read.

The skiddish/skittish behavior of the CBS Reporters in the Newsroom in New York which I believe was a takeover of the Press at that time, the blackout of Dallas at the first hour of the incident, in other words, it was a COUP.

The puffing of Billy Graham and now George Ganswein, the Pope’s personal secretary. Ganswein’s resemblance to Randolph William Hearst who had the Press puff BIlly Graham and was or is said to have been a Nazi Sympathizer and many other things. His initiative for the World Youth Organization. Now the push to invite the World Youths and anyone else to PASS THROUGH the Magnificent Portal at Notre Dame in Paris at the Courtyard of the Gentiles.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Then there is 911 and the forfeit of privacy for National Security’s sake. the abuse of the Press, Ecumenicalism, Secret Societies, which was expressed by President Kennedy before he died and not to mention, but I will anyway, the death of his brother Robert Kennedy and JFK’s son John F. Kennedy Jr and their close ties to Billy Graham or rather his invasion of their family naivety and friendship.

Billy Graham has proved over the years to be a shill of the Papacy, Roman Catholicism and the Unified World Religion ie Ecumenicalism.

Gee it seems thatWWII is still ongoing and we have many spies in our country including actors and actresses!

Hate to admit and it does sound crazy I think we are dealing with doubles, occupation of bodies, and probably some form of trance/hypnotic mind control of people in this case. MOST ASSUREDLY a spiritual connection to their behavior culminating in our day and time because they serve a FALSE GOD ie the DEVIL, because they are victims of the FALSE TEACHING of the FALSE SYNOPTIC GOSPELS PROPAGATING A FALSE REPRESENTATION OF JESUS and WHY HE CAME, WHEN HE CAME, AND WHO HE IS in their scrambling, confusion and PURSUIT FOR POWER and most of all to control us, confuse us, abuse us, rob us, and kill us for their MASTER because they also want to be our masters. One big huge mess. Most of them could care less about the truth as they pray their mantra to their RAT MAN enslaving their followers at the same time.

You.

If you think it is not important….think again. Who you pray to is important.

There are some that have tried in their capacities to express their suspicions in their way as best they can. We ought to notice and analyze when we can what they have tried to show us being heedful of artful deception all around them and us and the possibility that they are deceived and/or are part of the deception.

It is extremely tough and confusing to interpret, but very stupid and totally ridiculous to ignore!

============

Back to CBS NEWS:

We learned from Washington that Mrs. Sargent Shriver the sister of the President has been taken by helicopter from the White House to Andrews Air Force Base presumably to fly to Dallas to join Mrs. Kennedy or perhaps to await there the return of the party from Dallas.

Mrs. Kennedy, who was riding in the same car with the President, was not hurt, but has been taken to a quiet room in the hospital. 1:10/10:40 AH AH AH AH AH At this moment after the aftermath of the terrible moment that she had to go through in which shot rang out and the President slunk down his head in her lap.

That was strange!

Reports are still coming in. They do not perhaps add a great deal to the confusion of the events that we have been trying to sort out all day, but as they come into us CBS News is going to stay on the air live from here throughout this day in order to keep you up to date on the latest developments in the assassination of the President and what happens next.

The news agencies and our own correspondents who are keeping us informed from Dallas continue to send us reports bringing together the various pieces of information some confirmed some unconfirmed as they come in and as we begin to sort out the truth from the rumors of what has happened. (licked)

The President’s body has now been removed from Parkland Hospital. It was taken from there uh shortly after his death in a long uh cream colored ambulance with the curtains tightly drawn. Mrs Kennedy rode from the hospital in a passenger seat in the ambulance which is a type of vehicle that does have two seats for passengers. She and the body of President Kennedy were escorted from the Emergency Entrance of the Parkland Hospital by two motorcycle officers. Mrs. Kennedy walked slowly from the hospital to the ambulance looking around her, we are told, in a dazed manner and appeared to be in a state of shock. Those who saw her enter the hospital an hour and a half earlier said that she had not been hysterical and remained in control of herself throughout. Secret Service men uh have directed Police to remove spectators from the whole area.

Now we have another report from Washington.

Neil Strausser reporting:

Three jet planes are now warming up at Andrew’s Air Force Base presumably to fly members of the President’s family to Dallas, Texas. As you’ve already heard Eunice Shriver, the President’s sister, has left the White House by helicopter along with the President’s aide and very good friend Theodore Sorenson presumably on the way to Andrew’s Air Force Base.

Comments coming in from Capitol Hill are uniform in sorrow and very much bi-partisan. Democratic Senate Leader Mike Mansfield told newsmen, ” the death was a deep personal and tragic loss.”

Seated with Republican Senate Leader Everit Dirkson and Mansfield offices off the floor of the Senate Chamber the Democratic Leader told assembled reporters simply, “He was a man who contributed so much and deserves so much more in return.”

Senator Allen Bible Democrat of Nevada said, “This is one of the great tragedies of our civilization. The world has lost a great champion and the United States has lost a great and courageous President.”

Senator Jordan Democrat of North Carolina said, “The assassination was a great tragedy that has befallen this nation.”

The Speaker of the House and the next man in line for the Presidency after Lyndon Johnson, Speaker McCormick issued this statement to reporters, “This is a tragic event. I feel very inadequate in expressing my thoughts. The nation,” said Speaker McCormack,” has sustained a staggering loss, the significance of which is stupendous. Our country and the entire world will never forget President Kennedy. His leadership was superb in meeting the challenge of this period of world history. The warmth of his personality will never be forgotten. The relationship that has existed between the President and myself throughout the years has been very close and most friendly. In his tragic passing I have lost a dear and personal friend. The statement of Speaker McCormack.

We are told that an aide of Vice President Lyndon Johnson, now President Johnson George Reedy has arrived at the White House. There can be very little delay in these times, of course, to have a new administration take over. As we told you the law says the Oath of Office can be given by almost anyone. By now Johnson could already have taken it. It is presumed he will take it very shortly.

This is Neil Strausser in Washington.

Charles Collingwood reports:

President Kennedy’s body has been removed from the hospital in Dallas, Texas on the first stage of its journey back to Washington for what will be a State Burial. Mrs. Kennedy accompanied the body in an ambulance from the hospital to the airport where it will be flown back to Washington. Walter Cronkite whom uh who has been at this microphone all afternoon since the first word of of the President’s death has uh been looking at the reports as they come in. Walter have you discovered anything further than we’ve been uh giving?

Charles, nothing, except, as you know and indeed have already reported, that now the messages are beginning to come in from around the world and from the cities of the United States where a nation is in almost I I I would say it advisably, almost uncontrollable shock it seems. They’re weeping on the streets. Schools have to be dismissed. My own school is dismissed, because the children were weeping so much they couldn’t stay in con…..garbled (Man behind is wiping his eyes). Quite a tragic day as we all obviously know. Do you want me to relieve you a few minutes here  Garbled stay on the air through all this is. Excuse me.

Certainly.

We do have some word here to, as to, as to uh what is, where some of the members of the uh Kennedy family were at the time of the event in Dallas, the assassination. Bob Kennedy, Robert Kennedy the uh Attorney General of the United States uh we are told was uh at lunch at the time it happened uh at his home in McClean, Virgina.

Uh FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover called the FBI office in Dallas and ordered an all out investigation of the shooting which of course could be expected. (licks) President Kennedy as you’ve been told now was uh the first President to be assassinated since William McKinnley who was shot to death in 19 uh 6 uh 19 uh 01.

(Takes off glasses) Six members of the Kennedy Cabinet as you also I believe have been told during the day were out of the country on their way to Japan. Uh their plane was called back an hour and a half out of Honolulu. Uh, they’re expected, of course, to return immediately to Washington. (licks)

It is anticipated that the new President of the United States, the 36th President of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson, will continue uh the presi Kennedy’s policies with which he (?takes off glasses) seemed to be in firm agreement during these three years of the Kennedy Administration and presumably will continue most of the Cabinet in office uh through this next year at least until the uh November elections. (licks)

We told you that Senator Robert Kennedy was at his home in McClean, Virginia when he got the word. Senator Ted Kennedy and his wife, Joan, uh are now leaving Washington. Uh They’re boarding a jet at Andrews Air Force Base uh destined for Hyannis Port to be with uh the President’s mother and father who got the news there from a workman around the house who uh came running to the uh lawn where Mr. Kennedy was resting, with the news of the assassination. (licks)

The new President of the United States we believe that he must have by now taken uh the Oath of Office although we have not been advised of this yet is Lyndon Baines Johnson, a native of Texas, of Johnson City, Texas; where his mother and father had a ranch. He was born there some 54 years ago. (licks)

Uh, he was uh interested in politics at an early day when he was still in Southwest State Teachers College. He took uh law later and uh and became a very early uh follower of Fa Franklin Delanor Roosevelt who uh caught uh uh who became interested in the young man uh when he went to Congress in 19 uh in the early days uh 1937 of the Roosevelt uh second term and uh Mr. Roosevelt had indeed sponsored him for that uh job after making him

National Youth Administrator in Texas.

(puts glasses on)

FDR

Is it my imagination

or does FDR , LBJ and Billy Graham share some physical traits?

The youngish FDR looks like Billy Graham!

I wonder who caught this picture.

LBJ does not seem to be aware

of any photographer!!!!!!!

It is a close up and appears to be at his ranch,

but Billy Graham seems to be posing.

President Lyndon B. Johnson presents

Laughing hysterically at this conundrum.

JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 13)

CBS News Correspondent Dan Rather has arrived in our KRLD Studio in Dallas.

Let’s switch now to Dallas for his story.

( licks) The whereabouts of Lyndon Bane Johnson at the moment are unknown. VIce President, either soon to be or already President of the United States. Lyndon Johnson was at the Parkland Hospital in Dallas at the time or near the time of the official announcement of the death of the 35th President of this country, John F. Kennedy. Mr. Johnson left the hospital a very short time after 1:00 o’clock Central Standard Time. That would be 2:00 o’clock in New York.

The Secret Service, at this moment or as a few moments ago, was saying that Mr. Johnson uhs whereabouts would not be revealed for security reasons.

Most, if not all, of the Federal District Judges of Dallas and surrounding counties

were in and around the motorcade at the time the shooting occurred. We are told that most of the District Judges went to Parkland Hospital. It is possible we are told, that uh Lyndon Johnson was sworn in in some kind of temporary ceremony at the hospital, however there is no confirmation on that. The fact is, at the moment, the whereabouts of uh Lyndon Johnson are unknown, the Secret Service says, for security reasons. (licks)

Why were Federal District Judges of Dallas and surrounding counties on the street.

Weren’t they invited to the luncheon at the Trade Mart?

(Or were they just reliable witnesses.)

Mrs. John F. Kennedy left the hospital at approximately the same time the coffin carrying the body of her husband left. The coffin went to a private air installation at Dallas’s Love Field. Uh it either has left or will leave Dallas Love Field in a matter of minutes. (licks sorta)

We are told uh that the gun shot wound, the fatal wound inflicted on the President of the United States, entered at the base of the throat and came out at the base of the neck on uh the back side.

CBS News Correspondent Bob Pierpoint has been at the Parkland Hospital here in Dallas from just a few moments after the time uh President Kennedy arrived at the hospital and Governor John Connally arrived at the hospital. We expect to have Bob Pierpoint in the studio here with us very shortly. (licks)

A briefing session for newsmen is anticipated at Parkland Hospital at any moment. Uh Pierre Salinger, the Presidential Press Secretary presumably will preside over that briefing session. We hope to bring you that uh briefing session either live from the hospital or on film. At that time a good deal of the uh confusion about exactly what happened along the motorcade route uh here in Dallas at the time President Kennedy was shot and killed should be cleared up. That briefing session we expect to have in a few minutes.

Also, on the air very shortly we are hopeful of having some film taken at the Dallas Airport at the time of President Kennedy’s arrival.

Also, CBS news cameraman from Washington Tommy Cravens was in the motorcade uh less than 50 yards from President Kennedy when the shooting occurred. Uh, Cameraman Cravens film is uh on the premises at the time, at this time, being processed. We hope to have that film for you very, very sh shortly. What it will show uh Cameraman Cravens was not uh at all certain.

The there is some confusion as to whether a Secret Service man also was killed at the time of the shooting. There has been no official confirmation of any Secret Service man being killed. Although there are widespread reports including one from the Dallas Police Department that a Secret Service man was killed at the same time President Kennedy and Texas Governor John Connally were shot.

The latest word from the hospital on uh Texas Governor Connally was that Governor Connally was in the operating room and had been uh seriously if not critically wounded. That was the last official word that we had from the Dallas Parkland Hospital. (licks)

As you may know by this time President Kennedy was shot as he took part in a motorcade which was driving him to the Dallas Trade Mart which is uh a big meeting center located just a short way from down town Dallas. (licks) The announcement that the President had been shot was not made at that meeting center until approximately a half hour after the President arrived at the hospital. There was a great deal of uh grief immediately at the uh center there was a great deal of disbelief. In fact uh switchboards all over Dallas that anything resembling a public information source or still completely swamped with callers who are apparently refuse to believe that John F. Kennedy has been shot and killed. (licks)

There have been a number of uh suspects arrested by Dallas Police, Dallas County Sheriff’s Officers. One of the suspects was a 25 year old white youth. He was the first one arrested. He was in the vicinity of a multi-story building uh near the scene where President Kennedy and Texas Governor Connally were shot. On the fourth or fifth floor it has never been completely determined on which floor of that building, 4 empty cartridges were found. Police immediately arraigned that building. They also arraigned a 3 or 4 block area around that building believing that uh the assassin had fired his shots from the building.

A 25 year old white man was arrested either in or near that building and taken uh to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office as a suspect. However our latest report from the Sheriff’s office is that 25 year old man is not considered a good suspect.

Just a short while ago, near a down town Dallas theater, a 30 year old white man was arrested. He had on his person a weapon. At this time we are not exactly certain as to what kind of weapon it was. It uh had been reported that a 30-30 caliber weapon was the one used to kill President Kennedy and wound Governor Connally. That has not been confirmed. The whether or not the man arrested a few minutes ago at a down town Dallas theater had on his person a 30-30 weapon has not yet been confirmed. But the fact is that a 30 year old white man meeting the description of one for whom uh an alert and all points alert was put out shortly after the shooting has been taken into custody in down town Dallas.

In just a moment we hope to have the films from the shooting scene uh just after the shooting occurred by CBS cameraman Tommy Cravens. But while we see if that film uh is ready and can be uh shown to you, lets switch back to CBS news headquarters in New York.

**************************

There is considerable controversy that has gone on over a good number of years that is going to come up again now under tragic circumstances as to what number should be given to the new President of the United States Lyndon Baines Johnson. Whether he is the 36th or the 37th President of the United States even as it uh was debated whether President Kennedy is properly the 35th or the 36th President. This all stems from the fact that Grover Cleveland served split terms as President of the United States. Mr. President Truman uh called himself the 34th President of the United States and President Kennedy called himself the 35th both believing that Grover Cleveland’s two non-consequetive terms should be counted as one uh in counting the number of Presidents and not the total terms should be counted. So on that basis uh presumably President Lyndon Baines Johnson will consider himself the 36th President of the United States.

*****************************

We still, quite oddly it seems uh to me on this news desk, have had no word from Dallas at all as to the uh location of (licks) uh Mr. Johnson, nor as to whether or not he has indeed taken the Oath of Office. It is assumed that he would have from uh a Dallas Judge, a Federal Judge perhaps. Perhaps then deciding to have another uh ceremony in Washington with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court uh which was what uh Calvin Coolidge did when he learned that he had become the President of the United States on his uh Vermont farm.  (looks up)

It seems almost uh inconceivable that again this whole tragic set of circumstances has taken place in

these last three hours only. (looking up at someone or something)

**********************************************

**********************************************

It was 12:25 Eastern Standard Time.

11:25 in Dallas uh when the shots rang out on that Dallas street

and the life of President Kennedy was uh snuffed out.

Notice that JFK was shot at 11:25, not 12:25

and pronounced dead at about noon,

not 1:00 PM!

We now learn that Vice President Johnson is expected to be sworn in as President aboard an airliner before flying back to the nation’s capitol.

The White House says that Mrs. Kennedy will return to Washington late today to be with the children Carolyn 6 and John Jr. who will be 3 next week.

(licks) We have word from Dr. Malcolm Parry the uh attendant the surgeon at Parkland Hospital who attended President Kennedy (takes off glasses) who says that when he arrived at the Emergency Room I noticed the President was in critical condition with a wound of the neck and head. (puts glasses back on) When asked if possibly the wounds could have been made by (takes off glasses) two bullets he said that he did not know. He said that immediate uh (puts glasses back on) resumptive measures were taken uh and Dr. Kent Clark the Chief of Neuro Surgery was called along with several other members of the staff. Dr. Perry says they arrived immediately but at this point the President’s condition was critical and moribund. A tracheotomy was performed to assist the President’s breathing. That’s a throat operation. The doctor’s said an oxygen machine was used and blood and fluid also were administered. All of this obviously to no avail.

The President died 25 minutes after the shooting (takes off glasses) at 1:00 Eastern uh Standard Time.

CBS News and JFK (Freedom of Man) Parts 44-46

JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 44)

The Kennedys frequently went to church as a family group. These pictures were taken when they attended Easter services in Palm Beach. And the President brought both children to the hospital at Otis Air Force Base to see their mother after the death of Patrick. That was not long ago. Mrs. Kennedy has just begun to make public appearances following a period of mourning and a vacation abroad.

The President and the children also went to the airport to meet Mrs. Kennedy

after her recent return from that vacation in Greece.

The one that she met Onassis and he kissed her hand and gave her red roses? That one?

Red roses she found to be strange to be given in Dallas on her arrival the day she received a lamb chops puppet that she hid in those red roses.

Both Mrs. Kennedy and the President

said all along part of their main job was to be parents.

The President always seemed to enjoy it.

One of the last times that father and son were together

was when the President went to Arlington

to lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns.

John went along, but stayed behind at the car

fascinated by the uniforms and salutes of the military.

————————————————

With the coming to power of Fidel Castro in Cuba the spectra/specter (not sure which is said but both seem to fit) of Communism was raised only 90 miles from our own shores.

What is funny about that is Arlen Specter who worked on the Warren Commission and became a senator

was also the first to offer the one bullet theory for the death of JFK

looks eerily similar to Oswald. That is my opinion!

Less than 4 months after John Kennedy took office an assault was mounted on Cuba in the predawn hours of April 17th, 1961. Anti-Castro rebels landed on the swampy beaches of Las Villas Province. The attack was directed by the Cuban National Revolutionary Council which was based in the United States. Cuban forces beat off the attackers. The Debacle became known as The Bay of Pigs Disaster. Kruschev blamed the Kennedy Administation. Mr. Kennedy blamed security leaks and breaches of secrecy for the disaster.

Kennedy’s speech:

“If the Press is awaiting a declaration of war before it imposes the self discipline of combat conditions then I can only say that no war ever posed a greater threat to our security. If you are awaiting a finding of clear and present danger then I can only say that the danger has never been more clear and its presence has never been more imminent. This deadly challenge imposes upon our society two requirements of direct concern both to the Press and to the President. Two requirements that may seem almost contradictory in tone but which must be reconciled and fulfilled if we are to meet this national peril. I refer first to the need for far greater public information and second to the need for far greater official secrecy. And I hope that every group on America unions and businessman and public officials at every level will ask the same question of their endeavors and suffer their actions to this same exacting task. I have no intention of establishing a new office of war information to govern the flow of news. I am not suggesting any new forms of censorship or new types of security classifications. I have no easy answer to the dilemma that I have posed and would not seek to impose it if I had one. But I am asking the members of the newspaper profession and the industry in this country to reexamine their own responsibilities to consider the degree and the nature of the present danger and to heed the duty of self restraint.”

The trouble over Cuba kept reoccurring until it led to a direct showdown with the Soviet Union, but that wasn’t for another year and half in October of 1962.

In between there was that other recurring difficulty that seemed so often to bring the United States and Russia to swords point.

That of course is Berlin. The trouble over Berlin predated the Kennedy Administration and lingers still.

In July of 1961 President Kennedy took the stand on the question:

“Our response to the Berlin crisis will not be merely military or negative. It will be more than merely standing firm. For we do not intend to leave it to others to choose and monopolize the forum and the framework of discussion. We do not intend to abandon our duty to mankind to seek a peaceful solution. As signers of the UN Charter we shall always be prepared to discuss international problems with any and all nations that are willing to talk and listen with reason. If they have proposals, not demands, we shall hear them. If they seek genuine understanding, not concessions of our rights, we shall meet with them. We have previously indicated our readiness to remove any actual irritants in West Berlin, but the freedom of that city is not negotiable. We cannot negotiate with those who say “what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is negotiable” but we are willing to consider any arrangement or treaty in Germany consistent with the maintenance of peace and freedom and with legitimate security interests of all nations. We recognize the Soviet Union’s historical concern about their security in Central and Eastern Europe after a series of ravaging invasions and we believe arrangements can be worked out which will help to meet those concerns and make it possible for both security and freedom to exist in this troubled area. For it is not the freedom of West Berlin which is abnormal in Germany today but the situation in that entire divided country. If anyone doubts the legality of our rights in Berlin we are ready to have it submitted to International Adjudication. If anyone doubts the extent to which our presence is desired by the people of West Berlin compared to East German feelings about their regime we are ready to have that question submitted to a free vote in Berlin and if possible among all the German people and let us hear at the same time from two and one half million refugees who have fled the communist regime in East Germany voting for Western type freedom with their feet. The world is not deceived by the communist attempt to label Berlin as a hotbed of war. There is peace in Berlin today. The source of world trouble and tension is Moscow, not Berlin. And if war begins it will have begun in Moscow and not Berlin…..”

——————————–——-

Weird because of WWll.

Was the Soviet Union responsible for WWll? I thought the problem was Hitler and Fascism and now Nazism is overlooked? WHY?

This seems very strange! Or is Fascism a product of Communism?

I thought Fascism was a product of

fanatical

Synoptic Christianity!

Makes sense to me!

Please read :

Pope Benedict XVI and His Power of Suggestion

which ought to clear it up so that you may understand the relationship between Fanaticism of Synoptic Christianity

and it’s control over Islam and Roman Catholicism and many others.

—————————

The summer and fall of 1962 saw more concern about Cuba and the presence of Soviet Troops there. Some members of Congress notably Republican Senator Kenneth Keating of New York complained that the Russians were building missile installations which were a threat to our security. The decision regarding Cuba was too important to rush and President Kennedy waited until he was sure that indeed a serious threat did exist. Then at 7:00 o’clock on the night of October 22 President Kennedy took to a national radio and television and he stated the United States position clearly:

“….This government as promised has maintained the closest surveillance of the Soviet military buildup on the island of Cuba that a series of offensive missile sites is now in preparation on that imprisoned island. The purpose of these bases can be none other than to provide a nuclear strike capability against the Western Hemisphere. Acting therefore in the defense of our own security and of the entire Western Hemisphere and under the authority entrusted to me by the Constitution as endorsed by the revolu resolution of the Congress I have directed that the following initial steps be taken immediately:

First, to halt this offensive buildup a strict quarantine on all offensive military equipment under shipment to Cuba is being initiated. All ships of any kind bound for Cuba from whatever nation or port will if found to contain cargo from whatever nation or port (some kind of glitch and repeats) will if found to contain cargoes of offensive weapons be turned back. This quarantine will be extended if needed to other types of cargo and carriers. We are not at this time however denying the necessities of life as the Soviets attempted to do in their Berlin Blockade of 1948.”

JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 45)

Second, I have directed the continued and increased close surveillance of Cuba and its military buildup. The foreign ministers of the OAS in their communique of October 6th rejected secrecy in such matters in this hemisphere. Should these offensive military preparations continue thus increasing the threat to the hemisphere further action will be justified. I have directed the armed forces to prepare for any eventualities. And I trust in the interests of both the Cuban people and the Soviet technicians at the sites the hazards to all concerned of continuing this threat will be recognized.

Third, it shall be the policy of this nation to regard any nuclear missile launched from Cuba or against any  nation in the Western Hemisphere as an attack by the Soviet Union on the United States requiring a full retaliatory response upon the Soviet Union.

==================End of that speech================

The President liked to take time to talk and philosophize about his office. Just about a year ago he sat in his famous rocking chair and talked on television with reporters from the

3 networks.

Q: As you look back on your first 2 years in office sir has your experience in the office matched your expectations? You had studied a good deal the power of the Presidency; the methods of it’s operation. How has this worked out as you saw it in advance?

JFK: Well, in the first place I think the problems are more difficult than I imagined they were.

Secondly, there’s a limitation on the ability of the United States to solve these problems.

We uh are involved now in the Congo in a very difficult situation. We’ve been unable to secure implementation of the policy which we supported. We are involved in a good many other areas. We are trying to see if a solution can be found of the struggle between Pakistan and India with whom we want to remain friends, with whom we want to remain friendly relations if they are unable to come to an agreement. There is a limitation in other words upon the power of the United States to bring about solutions. I think our people get awfully impatient, and uh maybe fatigued and tired…..we’ve been carrying this burden for 17 years. Can we lay it down? We can’t lay it down. I don’t see how we can lay it down in this century. So that uh I would say that the problems are more uh difficult than I imagined them to be. The responsibilities placed upon the United States are greater than I imagined them to be and there are greater limitations upon our ability to bring about a favorable result than I had imagined them to be, And I think that is probably true of anyone who becomes President because there is such a difference between those who advice or speak or legislate and be tr between the man who must uh make select from the various alternatives proposed and say that this shall be the policy of the United States. It’s much easier to make the speeches than it is to finally make the judgements, because uh unfortunately your advisors are frequently divided and if you take the wrong course and on occasion I have, the President bears the burdens, the responsibility, quite rightly. The advisors may move on to new advice.

Q:  Well Mr. President that brings up a point that’s always interested me. How does a President go about making a decision like Cuba for example?

JFK: The uh most recent one was hammered out really our policy and decision over a period of uh 5 or 6 days. During that period the 15 people more or less who were directly consulted frequently uh changed their views uh because uhwhatever action we took had so many disadvantages to it and each action that we took raised the prospect that the it might escalate with the Soviet Union into a Nuclear war. Finally however I think a general consensus developed uh and certainly seemed after all alternatives were examined that the course of action that we finally adopted was the right one. Now uh when I talked to members of the congress several of them suggested a different alternative when we confronted them on that Monday with the evidence. My feeling is that if they had gone through the 5 day period we had gone through at looking at the various alternatives the advantages and disadvantage of action they probably would have come out the same way that we did. I think that we took the right one. If we would have had to act on the Wednesday in the first 24 hours I don’t think probably we would have chosen as prudently as we finally did: A quarantine against the use of Offensive weapons.

In addition uh that had much more power than we first thought it did because uh I think the Soviet Union was very reluctant to have us stop ships which carried with them a good deal of their highly secret and sensitive material. Another uh….one of the reasons I think that the Soviet Union withdrew the IAL28s  was because we were carrying on very intensive low level photography. Now no one would have guessed probably that that would have been such a harassment. Mr. Castro could not permit us to indefinitely continue wide spread flights over his island at 200 feet every day and he yet he knew if he shot down one of our planes it uh then it would uh bring back a much more serious reprisal on him.

So it’s very difficult to always make judgements here about what the effect will be of our decisions on other countries. In this case it seemed to me that we did pick the right one. In Cuba of 1961, we picked the wrong one.

Q: I’d like to go back to question of the consensus and your relationship to the consensus you have said and the Constitution says that the decision can be made only by the President. Now what was your relation to the consensus? Did you form no opinion until a consensus appeared or were you part of forming a consensus and had you disagreed with it? What then?

JFK: Well I think that uh well you know that old story about the Abraham Lincoln in the Cabinet he says “all in favor say Aye” and the whole Cabinet uh voted Aye and uh then all opposed no, and Lincoln voted No and he said “the vote is no.” So that uh naturally the Constitution places the responsibility on the uh President. There was some disagreement with the course we finally adopted, but the course we finally adopted had the advantage of permitting other steps if this one was unsuccessful. In other words, we were starting in a sense at the at a minimum place and if that were unsuccessful we could have gradually stepped it up until we had gone into a much more massive action which might have become necessary if the first step had been unsuccessful. I would think that the majority had finally come to accept that though at the beginning there was a much sharper division and after all this was very valuable because uh the people who were involved had particular responsibilities of their own≥ Mr. McNamara Secretary of Defense who therefore had to advise me on the military capacity of the United States in that area.  The Secretary of State who had to advice on the attitude of the OAS (The Organization of the American States) and Nato.  So that uh in my opinion the majority came to accept the course we finally took. Which made it much easier. The Cuba of 1961 the advice of those who were brought in on the Executive Branch was also unanimous and the advice was wrong so that uh and finally, and I was responsible. So it finally comes down that no matter how many advisors you have frequently are they are divided and the President must finally choose. The other point is something that President Eisenhower said to me in January of 19–  There is no easy matters will ever come to you as President. If they were easy they would be settled at a lower level. So the matters that finally come to as President are always the difficult matters the matters which carry with them large implications. So this contributes to some of the uh burdens of the uh the Office of the Presidency which other Presidents have commented on.

Just thought I would add this link for me later to try to read and for the whomever if interested:

13 Days in October

“The thirteen days marking the most dangerous period of the Cuban missile crisis begin. President Kennedy and principal foreign policy and national defense officials are briefed on the U-2 findings. Discussions begin on how to respond to the challenge. Two principal courses are offered: an air strike and invasion, or a naval quarantine with the threat of further military action. To avoid arousing public concern, the president maintained his official schedule, meeting periodically with advisors to discuss the status of events in Cuba and possible strategies….”

===============================================

We’ve been considering the life and career of our dead President but meanwhile in Washington the government goes on. We’re going to interrupt this obituary now for a brief look at the news tonight we go to the White House and George Herman.

=============================================

The President of the United States is in Washington but there’s no President at the White House tonight. President Lyndon Johnson worked most of the evening in his office the Executive Office Building the office assigned to him when he was Vice President of the United States before he became President. He left here about 20 minutes ago to return home. Mrs. Kennedy is  not here she is spending the night at Bethesda Naval Hospital where the body of her late husband is also resting.

Tomorrow, the body of the late President accompanied by Mrs. Kennedy will come here to the White House to Lie-In- Repose here in the White House tomorrow for members of the family to view and for members of the government. The following day on Sunday it will go to the United States Capitol where it will Lie-In-State in the Rotunda and there it will be viewed by the American public. There will be a ceremonial mass a pontifical mass by Rich in Richard Cardinal Cushing on Monday. And after that the burial arrangements which so far are private. Here in the White House tonight Sargent Shriver has been working on the funeral arrangements the President’s brother-in-law taking care of the melancholy last details of the late President of the United States. All else here at the White House is quiet. There is no further Presidential activity here. Only people trying to find out what is going to happen. What’s going to happen to President Johnson. What’s going to happen to the United States. And what is the next order of business at this home of Presidents. This is George Herman at the White House returning you now back to Harry Reasoner.

===========================================

John F. Kennedy’s life was brief and busy. Now prematurely that life has been comit.(tape goes silent no sound for a few seconds) Something probably purposefully omitted. (sound returns)

and to stick by it’s pledge to insure the freedom of the continent.

Wherever he went his reception was enthusiastic but no where more so then in the divided city of Berlin.

(man in black adjusts his hat

and it seems to be a symbolic gesture of some kind)

Not sure of the meaning of the gesture, but it is in this you tube presentation

and I suspect the meaning has to do with

Human Rights and Freedom…

German, Roman, American, African, Jewish, women hopefully

(notice below that when addressing the crowd he says Ladies)

That is my conjecture.

JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 46)

These people had reason to cheer for Mr. Kennedy for in their eyes he was the mainstay between the freedom they enjoyed in West Berlin and the Russian directed domination of the Eastern Sector. The President had this to say at the Berlin Wall:

Thank you. Ladies. I am proud to come to this city as the guest of your distinguished mayor

who has symbolized throughout the world the fighting spirit of West Berlin

and I am proud (huge applause and yelling) and I am proud to visit the Federal Republic

with your distinguished Chancelor who for so many years has committed Germany

to democracy and freedom and progress

and to come here in the company of my fellow American, General Clay who (huge applause by crowd)

who has been in this city during it’s great moments of crisis and will come again if ever needed.

(huge applause by huge crowd)2000 years ago.

2000 years ago the proudest boast wars

Civis Romanus sum

today in the world of freedom the proudest boast is Ish?/ich? bin ein Beeleener

(by sound not by german spelling 2:13/10:49)

Huge applause

———————————————-

“Civis Romanus sum (pronounced Cīvis Rōmānus sum) (Classical Latin: [ˈkiːwɪs roːˈmaːnʊs ˈsʊm],

I am a Roman citizen) implied, in a wide sense, all the rights and duties associated with the status of Roman citizenship.[1]

The Christian New Testament states that Paul of Tarsus, imprisoned and on trial, claimed his right as a Roman citizen to be tried before Caesar, and the judicial process had to be suspended until he was brought to Rome.[2][3]“

“The locution was quoted by Lord Palmerston when called to explain his decision to blockade Greece. In his speech in the Houses of Parliament on June 25, 1850 he claimed that every British subject in the world should be protected by the British Empire like a Roman citizen in the Roman Empire.[4][5]

In 1963, the phrase inspired the American president Kennedy to proclaim “Two thousand years ago the proudest boast was civis Romanus sum.

Today, in the world of freedom, the proudest boast is “Ich bin ein Berliner“.”

———————————————

The place where JFK gave the speech was called

Rathaus Schöneberg

Rathaus Schöneberg is the city hall for the borough of Tempelhof-Schöneberg in Berlin.

From 1949 until 1993 it served as the seat of the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin and until 1991 also as the office of the Governing Mayor.

There are many people in the world who really don’t understand, or say they don’t,

what is the great issue between the free world and the communist world.

Let them come to Berlin.

Huge applause

and

end of speech

——————————————————–

After that speech the President went to the wall.

JFK with Bridadier General ………and Secret Service Agent Roy Kellerman.

CBS News Correspondent Daniel Schorr was there with him.

…accompanied by Brigadier General ….he’s the commander of the Berlin Light Brigade. The President climbs up on a platform again for a better look into East Berlin. A better look than he had at The Brandenburg Gate.

The Brandenburg Gate

Obama to Speak at Brandenburg Gate in Berlin

Pretty strange.   Probably mocking the assassination of JFK in his way because he  is crazy and vindictive. Susan Rice’s  potential new post as National Security Advisor is another mock.

Obama has personality defects that are disgusting and he delights in it.

Berlin 1961 by Frederick Kempe

As he mounts the platform he can be seen better and so the cheers rise but most of the people around here are news

people. Those who are cheering are cheering from windows.

Near Check Point   Charlie

Here a close up shot of the Communist barriers, the VoPos, the East German Communist police, with their binoculars want to see from their side too. And on the other side you can see the East Berliners who in spite of everything have come forward knowing the President would be there. There on the corner beyond where East Berliners gathered they wanted to see President Kennedy too. Afraid or not allowed to come any closer. The President stands and just looks. It is an amazing sight. And probably thinks as many others have thought of (not sure if thought of is what is said because garbled but it sounds like it) to come here you have to see it to believe it.

With him General Chester Clifton his military aide.

And there back again looking into East Berlin and see the cluster of East Berliners who have gathered who cannot look over that wall but know that the President is on this side. A remark of, probably a sarcastic remark, about the East Germans from Chancellor Adenauer. We were not allowed to have any microphones at this point. It would be fascinating to know what this conversation was between the President and the Chancellor and the Mayor.

Only recently on the other side of the wall just last week and probably in preparation for President’s visit here the Communists announced a 100 yard strip prohibited to anybody. This prevents any East Berliners coming any closer than 100 yards. One thing the Communists would have hated to see was a series of escapes while the President was here. The perceived blow to them of the President’s visit is already batting up so that Kruschev will be back in East Berlin the day after tomorrow ostensibly to celebrate the birthdate of his puppet  Walter Ulbricht  70th birthday. And the President comes down now from the platform. He has seen the Check Point Charlie which he’s worried about these 2 years.  A place where time (garbled) a war could break out. A place where American and Russian tanks confronted each other and now at last he’s seen it.

Berlin 1961

Kennedy, Khrushchev and the most dangerous place on Earth

The East German puppet pulls the Soviet strings

=================================

That tour with the Chancellor Adenauer was shortly before the old man’s retirement. It would not have been likely that if anyone had predicted at that time that he would outlive President Kennedy.

If the President had to face up to momentous problems overseas he certainly had his problems at home. One of the constant nagging issues domestically was the old one of Equal Rights. Like President Eisenhower before him President Kem Kennedy demonstrated his determination to carry out Federal Court Orders in the entry o f Negro James Meredith into the University of Mississippi.

==============

50 years later, Medgar Evers’ widow feels anger anew

Then on June 12th of this year the nation was shocked by the murder of Negro Leader Medgar Evers.President Kennedy spoke compellingly of the meaning of that murder:

==============================

We are confronted primarily with a moral issue.

It is as old as the scriptures

and it is as clear as the American Constitution.

The heart of the question is:

Whether all Americans are to be afforded Equal Rights and Equal Opportunities.

Whether we are going to treat our fellow Americans as we want to be treated.

If an American because his skin is dark cannot eat lunch in a restaurant open to the public.

If he cannot send his children to the best public school available.

If he cannot vote for the public officials who represent him.

If, in short, he cannot enjoy the full and free life which all of us want,

then who among us would be content to have the color of his skin changed and stand in his place.

Who among us would then be content with the counsels of patience and delay.

One hundred years of delay have passed since President Lincoln freed the slaves, yet their heirs, their grandsons,

are not fully free.

They are not yet free from the bonds of injustice.

They are not yet yet freed from social and economic oppression.

And this nation for all it’s hopes and all it’s boasts will not be fully freed until all it’s citizens are free.

We preach freedom around the world and we mean it. And we cherish our freedom here at home, but are we to say to the world, and much more importantly to each other, that this is the land of the free except for the negroes. That we have no second class citizens, except negroes. That we have no class or caste system, no ghettos, no master race, except with respect for negroes.

Now the time has come for this nation to fulfill its promise.

The events in Birmingham and elsewhere has so increased the cries for equality that no city, or state, or legislative body can prudently choose to ignore them. The fires of frustration and discord are burning in every city north and south where legal remedies are not at hand. Redress (I think that is the word he is saying because it fits for that time, however regress seems to be occurring at this same time, as both seem to be occurring nowadays kind of like one of Newton’s laws of motion) is sought in the streets in demonstrations, parades, and protests which create tensions and threaten violence and threaten lives.

We face therefore a moral crisis as a country and a people. It cannot be met by repressive police action. It cannot be left to increased demonstrations in the streets. It cannot be quieted by token moves or talk. It is a time to act in the Congress in your state in local legislative body and above all in all of our daily lives.

It is not enough to pin the blame on others to say this is a problem of one section of the country or another, or deplore the facts that we face. A great change is at hand and our task, our obligation, is to make that revolution, that change, peaceful and constructive for all.

Those who do nothing are inviting shame, as well as, violence. Those who act boldly are recognizing right, as well as, reality.

End

Pretty amazing that it had been one hundred years since the freedom of the slaves

to JFK’s speech about the assassination of Medgar Evers.

Emancipation Proclamation

Henry Louis Stephens, untitled watercolor (c. 1863) of a man reading a newspaper with headline “Presidential Proclamation / Slavery”.

“The Emancipation Proclamation is an executive order issued by United States President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863, during the American Civil War using his war powers. It was not a law passed by Congress. It proclaimed the freedom of slaves in the ten states then in rebellion, thus applying to 3.1 million of the 4 million slaves in the U.S. at that time. The Proclamation immediately freed 50,000 slaves, with nearly all the rest (of the 3.1 million) freed as Union armies advanced. The Proclamation did not compensate the owners, did not itself outlaw slavery, and did not make the ex-slaves (calledfreedmen) citizens.[1]

On September 22, 1862, Lincoln issued a preliminary proclamation that he would order the emancipation of all slaves in any state of the Confederate States of America that did not return to Union control by January 1, 1863. None returned, and the order, signed and issued January 1, 1863, took effect except in locations where the Union had already mostly regained control. The Proclamation made abolition a central goal of the war (in addition to reunion), outraged white Southerners who envisioned a race war, angered some Northern Democrats, energized anti-slavery forces, and weakened forces in Europe that wanted to intervene to help the Confederacy.[2]

Slavery was made illegal everywhere in the U.S. by the Thirteenth Amendment, which took effect in December 1865.”

Just recently I wrote a post I hope you will read:

Pope Benedict Says “Faith was the True Enlightenment”

“With regard to material things, our knowledge and our technical accomplishments

are legion,

but what reaches beyond,

the things of God and

the question of good,

we can no longer identify,”

Benedict added, saying that faith was the “true enlightenment.”

Seems like there is a conversation in time and some of the answers and tests are occurring

there and back again.

Then there is Rosa Parks not mentioned:

Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (February 4, 1913 – October 24, 2005) was an African-Americancivil rightsactivist, whom the U.S. Congress called “the first lady of civil rights”, and “the mother of the freedom movement”.[1]

On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Parks refused to obey bus driver James F. Blake‘s order that she give up her seat to make room for a white passenger. Parks was not the first to resist bus segregation. Others had taken similar steps in the twentieth century, including Irene Morgan in 1946,

Irene Morgan

Sarah Louise Keys in 1955, and Claudette Colvin nine months before Parks, but NAACP organizers believed that Parks was the best candidate for seeing through a court challenge after her arrest for civil disobedience.

I thought Jane Pittman was a real person, but she was a fictional character.

Funny, because of the business about the death of Officer Tippit

in the aftermath of the assassination of JFK

is quite a mystery in itself.

Was he fictional too?

JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 48)

Now this weapon was found in the building. Perhaps we should say reportedly found in the building from which the shot was fired on the Sixth floor. The man who used the weapon had a clear line of sight to the President’s motorcade although he was located about a block away because he was on the sixth floor of the building he had a clear line of sight on him.

Around the window from which the shot has been believed to have been fired there were bits of fried chicken indicating the man who used that gun had had a chicken lunch while waiting for the President’s motorcade. Also there were some text books and some boxes stacked up in that same window indicating the sniper apparently or possibly rested his gun on some textbooks and some wooden boxes to study?/steady? (not sure which he meant to say) his shot as he opened up on the President.

The man obviously was an excellent shot or very lucky in that witnesses said that 3 shots were fired. At least two of them found their marks. One for the President, the shot that killed him. The other, the shot that wounded Texas Governor John Connally. There has been at least one report that there were two shots that hit the President which would indicate that all three of the shots found their mark.

Now, we’ll go back to Dallas Police Headquarters and KRLD Bill Mercer as he interviews policemen Gerry Hill who has been working on the case almost from the moment that the shot which killed the President was fired. Policeman Gerry Hill has been at the Police Headquarters and has been in the room some of the time, the room in which Oswald has been questioned.

On the left looks like John Travolta from Grease in the news lately having to do with massage shop vampire gayness or the Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales. Looks like either from the profile.

Gerry: The shots were fired. Spent cartridges were found on the Sixth floor uh on the southeast window and we came back downstairs at this time after securing the scene to leave all the evidence with the crime lab.

When we got back downstairs and were talking to one of the officers on the street about what we had found upstairs we received notice by a citizen who was using a police radio that an officer had been shot in the Oak Cliff section of the city.

Q: That was uh Mr. Tippit.

A: That was Tippit. At this time uh Sargent Owens and I were instructed by the inspector in charge at the scene to report to Oak Cliff and begin the investigation out there. On our arrival we obtained a description of a suspect and we began tracing his steps through the aid of civilian witnesses. When we uh first received a location on him they said he was in one of two vacant buildings that were being used for furniture storage in the 400 block of East Jefferson. We reported to this location and uh called for some assistance to secure the buildings. And at that time we went into the buildings checked them out to determine that the suspect wasn’t there.

While we were still at this location we received word that he was in the library at Marseilles and Jefferson. We reported to that scene and then we uh found out this was also a bogus call.

But then the third call which proved to be the charm. Came out that the suspect had entered the Texas theater some 5 blocks away. When we arrived at this location uh we secured the building from the outside and Ray Hawkins and Eddy MacDonald, CT Walker, Bob Carroll, Paul Bently, KE Lines, myself, and other officers went into the building and we began a systematic check of all the suspects or all the people who were the in the theater.

As Officer MacDonald approached a suspect sitting on the third row in the back of the theater. The suspect jumped up and yelled, “This is it.”and took a swing at the officer. Officer MacDonald started to grapple with the man. As he reached for a gun which was concealed under his shirt. And uh the gun was fired one time by the suspect but luckily it misfired. The uh the pin hit the shell but it did not fire. MacDonald yelled for help. And the other officers in the theater and I managed to subdue the man, disarm him and hand cuff him.

At that time we brought him out of the building put him in a squad car and brought him straight to Homicide and Robbery and turned him over to Captain Fritz.

Q: Who were those officers Gerry?

A: Uh Officer Hawkins, MacDonald,CT Walker, Bob Carroll, KE Lines, Paul Bently, and myself were the ones that were actually in along with Bob Barrett from the FBI who was in on the arrest with us also.

Back to Dan Rather in the studio

And now very quickly back to Dallas Police Headquarters for a videotaped live camera scene of Lee Oswald as he was brought into another room for questioning.

Against the wall…. Step back….

Here is the suspect.

Could we reroll it please.

REROLL IT? ACTION:

The suspect is…

Back against the wall…

All right you want to….

Oswald: give me a hearing without legal representation or anything

You shoot the President?

Oswald: I didn’t shoot anybody, no sir.

Notice the man in the center of the picture who looks like a zombie in a daze. Not even looking at the subject of the picture and the center of everyone else’s attention …Oswald, but he looks like he is looking at the wall, I guess.

He kind of looks like George Wildman Ball,

a diplomat,

 7th

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N.

 Hmmmmm. That’s odd!.

Wikipedia says that George Ball was protecting others in Washington:

“Under Secretary of State George Ball manned the operations center at the State Department so that no incident happened.[114]

because of the plethora of dignitaries from all over the world

that were in Washington DC. attending JFK’s funeral.

The State Department is headquartered in the Harry S. Truman Building a few blocks from the White House and yet here he is in this picture with Lee Oswald.

Was he in Dallas or was he in Washington?

I have a post that tells a little bit about him linked below:

President Obama Spiking Hardball

As  you just heard Oswald says he did not shoot anybody.

You don’t have to push…..

Knock it off….

I’m being pummeled here.

Knock it off…..

I’m being pummeled very heavily. You just heard Oswald say I did no shoot anybody.

Whew.

A scene of GREAT CONFUSION, but it does seemed contrived.

IF THEY WANTED A SCENE WITHOUT THIS HYSTERIA

THEY WOULD HAVE EMPTIED THE HALLWAY.

Obviously it was convenient.

Lee Oswald has been charged with the killing of a Dallas Policeman. He has not been charged in connection with the death of President Kennedy. This is Dan Rather in Dallas, Texas.

Back now to Harry Reasoner in New York:

==========================

Lets us go right away to the White House in Washington and a report from George Herman:

President Lyndon Johnson left his offices here almost exactly an hour ago. His old offices next door in the Executive Office Building his office which he occupied as the Vice President of the United States. Tomorrow morning he’ll be back in the Oval Office here in the West Wing, the Office of the President. Before he left tonight President Johnson conferred with the top advisors of the Kennedy Administration: Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, Assistant Secretary of State George Ball other leaders, Congressional Leaders of both parties from the House and from the Senate. He talked by telephone with J. Edgar Hoover discussing the progress of the investigation into who who was the assassin of the late President Kennedy. He talked to Texas to talk to the doctors of Governor Connally. Was told that Governor Connally’s condition was good.

Tomorrow at 9:30 Lyndon Johnson starts his first full day as President of the United States. Meets at 9:30 at his office with the Secretary of State Secretary Rusk. Secretary Rusk has been flying all night. Is expected back here in Washington around midnight. He and five other Cabinet Officers were on their way to an important economic meeting in Japan when they heard the word in the Mid Pacific turned around and on on their way back to Washington.

Around the same time that President Johnson meets with Secretary Rusk, Mrs. Kennedy and the body of the late President will be entering the White House. The President’s body will Lie-In-Repose in the East Room, the gold and white East Room, of the White House where President Kennedy provided/presided over so many dinners, so many formal entertainments as President of the United States. Tomorrow the body will be seen by the family and by officials of the United States Government. After that it will be taken from the White House in an official cortege to the Rotunda of the United States Capital at 1:00 o’clock Sunday and there it will lie not in repose. but In-State for one day. Members in the President’s family, his Cabinet, and government leaders and members of the Supreme Court and Congress and Diplomatic representatives of the countries of the earth will be present at ceremonies placing the President’s body in the condition of Full-State-Mourning.

The public will be permitted to file past the beer (not sure what this is) in the Rotunda shortly after it’s arrival and until 9:00 Sunday night and once again Monday morning from 9 until 10:00 o’clock in the morning. Then the body will be moved Monday at 11:00 o’clock to St.Matthews Cathedral between 17th and 18th Street Northwest on Rhode Island Avenue for a pontifical requiem. A requiem mass at 12:00 o’clock noon. The mass will be celebrated by the late President’s good friend his eminence Richard Cardinal Cushing the Archbishop of Boston.

The late President Kennedy had once discussed the question of possible assassination with CBS News Correspondent Charles Von Fremd. Here are Correspondent Von Fremd’s recollections of that event.

======================

A casual conversation with John Kennedy about 12,000 feet over the Great Plains in early July of 19 hundred and 60 came back to haunt me today. On that July evening I was one of 4 newsmen flying with the Democratic Presidential hopeful in his family plane The Caroline on a flight back from South Dakota. The Primaries were behind the Senator. He had won them all. Earlier that day he had won pledges from 4 South Dakota Delegates to the Democratic Presidential Convention that was to start 10 days later. The Senator was confident and for the first time really thought  the White House might be his.

He knew that I had covered the White House during 6 years of the Eisenhower Administration and asked how living in the White House would differ from the day to day life of a Junior Senator from Massachussetts. Among other things I pointed out to Senator Kennedy the Secret Service would endow/allow (not sure if endow is the right word but sounds like it but it does not make any sense but then neither does allow!) to a great extent, that is, if he won the White House dictate how he moved about outside the White House. The President for instance was told by the Secret Service when and where he could take care of physical necessities while on the road: The food he ate, the highways he took had to be approved by the SS.

The Senator slapping his thigh in a characteristic gesture said he thought the Secret Service while a dedicated and confident organization was really faced with an impossible responsibility. John Kennedy argued that any intelligent sharp shooter however mad could gun down the President of the United States if he wanted to badly enough and planned it carefully enough. He thought the Secret Service agents running along side the Presidential limousine in the motorcade only succeeded really in just blocking the view of the average public who turned out to see him.

President Kennedy did make some drastic changes in Secret Service rules. He frequently relegated the Secret Service driver to the back seat of his limousine and took the wheel himself. On his recent trip to New York City he drove the Secret Service Agents and the City Police to despair by dispensing with the heavily protected motorcade.

He often popped out of hotel suites minus a Security Guard.

A slur insinuating nonsense. Give me a break!

How would Charles Von Fremd know?

JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 49)

Like many men who have had several brushes with death and survived John Kennedy treated death with contempt.

It is ironic that when the assassin’s bullet came it came when he was under heavy security guard.

And in death,  John Kennedy proved himself a prophet (Licks)

I can still hear him observe in that cool casual manner aboard The Caroline more than 3 years ago that an intelligent sharp shooter could gun down the President if he wanted to badly enough.

It was a risk that John Kennedy enthusiastically chose to take and it cost him his life today (Licks)

This is Charles Von Fremd in Washington. (Licks).

(Of course, it wasn’t a sharp shooter it was Jackie sitting next to him that killed him.

Or her double.

The Zapruder film shows Jackie with a smoking weapon.)

==================

Back to Harry Reasoner:

Here is a brief summary of the events of the day and those to come. Upon today’s assassination of President Kennedy Lyndon B. Johnson became the new President of the United States. The body of President Kennedy will Lie-In-Repose in the East Room of the White House all day tomorrow Saturday. On Sunday a cortege will move the late President to the Rotunda of the Capitol where he will Lie-In-State Sunday afternoon and Monday.

The White House announced tonight that former Presidents Eisenhower and Truman will go to Washington this weekend to join the nation in it’s official mourning. On Monday at noon Boston’s Richard Cardinal Cushing a close friend of the family will officiate at a at a pontifical requiem mass in Washington St. Matthew’s Cathedral.

Throughout this coming weekend President Johnson will be briefed by the men who are now his Presidential Advisors as those Cabinet and government officials return to their posts in the Capitol.

In Dallas the business of bringing an assassin to justice continues. Police say they have a prime suspect in 24 year old Lee Harvey Oswald a pro Castro Marxist who once defected to Russian then returned to this country claiming disillusionment with the Soviet system.

For the moment Oswald has been charged with the murder of a Dallas policeman killed on a street near the assassination’s scene. Police say that Oswald was in the building from which the President was shot at the time of the assassination. Oswald has denied any involvement in the assassination.

Texas Governor John Connally the second victim of the shooting is reported in satisfactory condition at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, he is expected to recover.

CBS News reported earlier today that Senator Goldwater was reached with the news of President Kennedy’s death as he was flying to Muncie Indiana for a political dinner. This in fact was not the case. The Senator was on his way to attend the funeral of his mother-in-law. Senator Goldwater called the President’s death shocking and dreadful and asked, “how can a thing like this happen? The President’s death is a profound loss to the nation and the world,” said Goldwater. “He and I were personal friends. This is also a great loss to me. Mrs. Goldwater and I offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mrs. Kennedy and the President’s family.” That reaction from Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona.

In Washington if there is a hope and a sign tonight the new President of the United States has it. He has plunged head long into his new and monumental duties with full energy reportedly anxious to get the machinery of government moving as quickly as possible.

The CBS Television Network will broadcast no commercial entertainment and no programming until after the burial of the late President Kennedy which will probably be on Tuesday in Boston, Massachussetts. CBS will return on the network tomorrow and through the weekend to continue to report on the latest developments as President Johnson assumes his new duties and responsibilities.

At 6:03 P.M. Lyndon Baines Johnson age 55 returned to Washington aboard an Air Force jet as the 36th President of the United States.

Johnson remained aboard the plane until President Kennedy’s body had been removed. Then he and Mrs. Johnson walked slowly down the ramp and over to a group of waiting Congressmen. For 23 years of his 26 years in national politics Mr. Johnson had served with these men, first as a congressman, later as a United States Senator. These were his friends the men he knew and understood best.

Johnson helped to pull Texas and Louisiana gack in to the Democratic Column. Both had voted for Dwight Eisenhower in 1956. Mr. Johnson campaigned with his characteristic energy:

“……are against sweat shops in the Democratic Party and so are you.

We are for the working people in the Democratic Party and so are you.

We are for the working people in the Democratic Party and so are you.

We are for the farmer in the Democratic farmer and so are you.

We are against bigotry in the Democratic Party.

We are for equality before the law of all men regardless of race, religion, or the region in which they live and so are you.

And if you will give us your hand, and if you will renounce the  and the Coolidges and the Hoovers and the Bensons and the Nixons and give us your hand and your heart, your voice and your vote, on January the 20th we will give all the people of all the states of all the regions an Administration that will be of the people by the people and for the people.

Goodbye and God bless you!”

The results of that campaign are now history. the Kennedy Johnson ticket squeaked through with a plurality of just over a hundred thousand votes. On a cold blustery day in January Lyndon Johnson stood before an inaugural crowd in Washington to be sworn in as Vice President by his old friend Sam Rayburn:

Sam Rayburn: I, Lyndon Baines Johnson….

LBJ: I, Lyndon Baines Johnson….

Sam Rayburn: Do solemnly swear….

LBJ: Do solemnly swear….

Sam Rayburn: That I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.

LBJ: I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.

Sam Rayburn: That I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.

LBJ: That I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.

Sam Rayburn: I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion

LBJ: I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation whatever

Sam Rayburn: And I will faithfully discharge the duties of the Office upon which I am about to enter so help me God.

LBJ: And I will faithfully discharge the duties of the Office in which I am about to enter so help me God.

Back to Harry Reasoner

President Kennedy had decided at the outset of his Administration that Vice President Johnson was to be a working Vice President, not a ceremonial figurehead. One prime mission that Mr. Johnson undertook for the President was an around the world fact finding tour. A tour to sound out other chiefs of government and to access the wills of people in foreign lands.

In Germany Vice President Johnson went to the Berlin Wall.

And on the other side of the world a visit to Chiang Kai-shek

Leader of Nationalist China on Fermosa.

And then there was Mr. Johnson’s visit to the Vatican for a call on the late Pope John.

Late???

Was he late to show up or do they mean dead?

The Vatican outdid itself for the then Vice President’s visit. The meeting with the pope had all the appearances of a friendly formal visit. But all that went before and after the personal meeting with the pope was conducted with all the pomp and fanfare that one might expect for royalty.

President Kennedy had made his Vice President a member of the Committee on Government Contracts and at a meeting of Nation’s Industrialists attended by President Kennedy, Mr Johnson told them of their responsibilities as contractors for the government:

“…..all over the world but assuming he didn’t we demonstrated that Americans believe what they say in their Constitution and their Declaration of Independence and that uh no single American is black marked and hand cuffed and put over in a corner because of his religion.

And we demonstrated something else that I think equally important and maybe more so that you can elect a Vice President from the South regardless of his region.

Uh so we’ve made a good deal of headway in these fields and we think we are improving our system. And you are here as one of uh some 100 men who we look as the Titans, the leaders the the uh ones that have gone up the rung of the ladder, and we want other people to learn much from you by both precept and example. And we don’t want to do it with a pestle at your temple. And we don’t want to say,  ”We have the authority. Here’s the Executive Order. Cancel out the contract. Let ‘em send their lobbyists and their lawyers down here. We just a we don’t like the report we got, because we’re not operating that way. And the thing that pleases us, particularly today, is that a good many of you have no defense contract and you are going to be a showcase for America and in each of these 104 nations that constantly hear this propaganda every day:

that we only grow babies for breakfast.”

I have no idea what he is talking about.

JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 50)

Walter Cronkite has interviewed most of the nations leaders. He has had long chats with General Eisenhower, with President Kennedy, and during the last campaign there was this interview with Mr. Johnson.

Walter Cronkite: Why would a man who loves these hills and has this magnificent ranch and this vista you got here on the river want to uh ever take the time out to fight these hard difficult battles in the distant remote Washington D.C.?

Johnson: Well uh Walter uh I think that we enjoy the time that we spend here but all of my life uh I have wanted to be a public servant as my father ahead of me was and I grew up uh wanting to help people with their problems and I get a satisfaction and a sense of achievement from uh constructive efforts on behalf of human beings that you can’t get in almost any other profession. Uh I will have been in Washington 30 years come next year and uh I think I would just be lost if uh I didn’t work uh in some public field. If I couldn’t be on public life I would want to be a teacher as I was before I entered the public life because uh I could have an influence on the minds of the young people and lead them in the directions I would like to see them go. I’ve often said that if I had a boy I’d want him to be either a politician or a preacher or a teacher because they would have a sense of achievement that comes uh uh from few other professions.

Walter Cronkite: Well now, it took you a little while to find this way of your life. Uh you here at the ranch uh you wanted to get away early in life you you went away as a laborer before uh your disappointed father succeeded in getting you back and into teacher’s college. Uh why did you want to leave in the first place?

Johnson: Well uh Walter I didn’t want to leave, it was more of a necessity. I i worked all of my life. As a little boy I shined shoes at the barber shop. I was a printer’s devil I ran off the weekly paper on Thursday afternoon the Old Washington Press, I inked it. Uh that’s one I

Walter Cronkite: That’s Washington Texas press.

Johnson: When I uh When I uh That’s the name of the press. Uh when I uh graduated from high school at 15 I wanted a job and there were not any jobs to be had around here in 1924. So I took the old philosopher’s advice Horace Greeley and went west, young man and worked two years in california in the Platt Building as an elevator boy in San Bernadino and finally wound up in the lawyer’s office. But I came back and mother talked me into going to college and during the period I was in college I taught a Latin American School down in South Texas and it gave me great satisfaction and I thought I wanted to be a teacher. So when I finished college I went to Houston taught a year and then the great opportunity of my life uh came to me when Congressman Clayburgh one of the owners of the King Ranch asked me to go to Washington as his Secretary in the Hoover Administration in 1931 and uh except for a brief period of 15 months I’ve been in Washington ever since:12 years in the House, 12 years in the Senate, 5 years there as the Secretary.

Walter Cronkite: Had you given any thought to a political career before that appointment to go to Washington?

Johnson: Yes uh I assumed ever since they first told me of Grandpa’s uh prediction uh I had an ambition to be a United States Senator and uh I took the steps that I felt were calculated to prepare me for that work to make it possible for me to be elected. I was first elected to Congress when I was 28 in 1937. In 1941 Senator Sheppard died and I ran to succeed him. I was defeated in a very close race by the then Governor of the State W. Lee O’Daniel. He defeated me in 1941 by 13  hundred and 11 votes out of more than a million. And then I waited until 1948 and when Governor he then Senator O’Daniel decided not to run I ran for that place and had a uh very close race but was elected in November and have been in the Senate (not sure of the  words but I think this is what he said) since that time.

Walter Cronkite: Well that loss to uh Senator W. Lee O’Daniel must have been a rather bitter one for you, your first major State race. Did you uh, what did you ascribe your loss to then?

Johnson: No it wasn’t bitter uh. I think that uh Governor O’Daniel is a very popular public figure at the time and I was a very young man and had uh was unknown uh though out the state. I represented the uh district in Central Texas and uh I I would ra ….I ran rather surprisingly well uh well the uh at that age and with the resources at my command.

Walter Cronkite: Your technique of leadership is considerably different. Uh Uh If I may I’d like to quote uh uh from a chap here who one observers quoted one of your Being won over Johnson is a rather overwhelming experience. The full treatment is incredibly potent mixture of persuaion, badgering, flattery, threats, reminders of past favors and future advantages. Well that’s a technique for leadership obviously. Uh How does this….

Johnson: I would say I would say that uh uh the fellow was more interested in his sentence structure than he was accuracy. Grins

Walter Cronkite: Laughs

Johnson: Uh uh you don’t deal with Senators really that way uh I think the only thing uh that uh that is calculated to appeal to members of the Senate is a presentation of the facts and the soundness of your logic. Uh nearly every Senator that uh takes the oath of office is uh is elected on a platform of doing what’s right and uh your problem as leader is to convince him that uh the cause you represent is the right cause. Now uh uh there’s not any favors you can do for a Senator that you remind him of uh there’s no cajolery or flattery involved uh uh that doesn’t appeal to a man that’s capable and worthy of representing one of the great states in the Union. Uh they’re not school boys. Even though some of these fellows that uh write these things sometimes uh uh  make them sound uh that way. Uh I would say that uh I try to follow the old prophet Isaiah’s advice “Come let us reason together.” And uh that course of action uh always appeals to reasonable men.

I don’t want to sound unreasonable, but right after he said ‘reasonable men’ he licked,

which he rarely does in this interview.

I find this kind of odd… the timing, that is.

And most Senators are reasonable uh uh Republicans sometimes uh a little more difficult for us Democrats to reason with then the members of our own party but uh all of ‘em are patriotic uh uh uh members of the Senate and they want to do what’s best for their country. And uh once they’re convinced that the cost …the course of action that you present is for the best interest of America uh you’ll usually have a lopsided vote in your favor.

Walter Cronkite: Senator uh since you were a protege in a sense of uh Franklin Delanor Roosevelt in in those early days of the New Deal with your NYA Administration here uh you were identified with the more liberal element of the Democratic Party in those days and I think in recent years the identification has been more toward the conservative side. Is is this uh the kind of the normal development of a man do you feel toward the liberal to the conservative and is this a tendency that’s likely to continue in your own life, do you feel or?

Johnson: Well, I presume that we all become a little more prudent uh as we uh grow older although I’ve never been much of a believer in uh labels. I’m a great admirer of President Roosevelt’s now just as I was then. Uh he hasn’t changed uh uh in my viewpoint any and uh as I engage in a little introspection I haven’t changed much. Uh uh my philosophy is that I’m a free man first and uh an American second, United States Senator third, and a Democrat fourth. In that order. Now, I’m a member of the Democratic Party because I think that uh through the vehicle of that party I can best uh see my philosophy translated into action. I believe my party cares more uh about the problems uh of the people of this country and is more concerned with helping them with their problems than the Republican Party and for that reason I’m a Democrat. But uh uh Im uh a free man and American and a Senator first.

Walter Cronkite: Senator uh uh

Johnson: I don’t go in much for the labels of the liberal and conservative. Uh I think you can be a progressive uh Senator and still be a prudent Senator. I don’t think you have to be a wastrel. I think we’ve demonstrated that in the Democratic Party by cutting 12 and half billion dollars uh from the President’s budget request. I think you can be a Conservative uh Senator without being a reactionary Senator/ Uh but labels don’t mean much to me what I’m interested in is is this peice of legislation or is this uh project or is this program good for my country? Is it the right thing to do? And if it’s good for my country, it’s good for my party, and consequently good for me.

JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 51)

Walter Cronkite: Senator Uh uh the darkest day I guess in your uh in your life came in 1955 when you had the heart attack, which we all know about. But I’m wondering how that uh experience affected your philosophy. I know that there are some who we in our researchers have talked to and they in the Senate to uh said that t before that they sort of thought you were a brash young politician but after that they thought you became the politician’s politician. That this was a turning point in a way. Do you feel that yourself at all?

Johnson: No, I don’ t think it had any uh uhappreciable affect on the course of my conduct at all. I think during the period of 60 days when I was uh uh away from the Senate Chamber that uh I had time to reflect and uh really appreciate all the good people that I had known and uh how unworthy perhaps I had been of their devotion and their friendship. Uh, I know that uh I never really recognized the fact that uh uh the Senators could be as good men as they demonstrated to me they were. Uh, I remember Senator Nowlin wrote me nearly everyday that I was in the hospital and I had communications from every member of the Senate except one. A good many of ‘em came to see me nearly everyday and uh it was their interest and in their prayers I think that sustained me during that period uh when I was somewhat distressed. But uh after the initial two months and I came back here to the ranch I haven’t observed that it’s affected my conduct of public business uh at all. As a matter of fact, I am sometimes amused when I think of the letter I received from President Eisenhower uh telling me that he had read in the papers of my activity and he thought I was uh uh going to work a little too fast and he hoped I’d slow down. And that letter was went to me without a signature by General Person. General Person said that it was the last letter dictated by the President the night before he had his heart attack and he was lecturing me on slowing down a little bit to just before he had his.

Tonight Lyndon Johnson is the new President. Our Correspondent at the White House George Herman has a report on the new occupant:

President Lyndon Baines Johnson like the man he succeeds is above all a political pragmatist. As the Leader of the United States Senate he often told us that he always counted the votes he thought he could muster before leading his party into a fight. He thought wasting his parties energy on a fight he could not win was not only wasteful but foolish and Senator Lyndon Johnson was wise, efficient, and able. He led all the many voices inside his party speak on every issue. He squelched no shade of opinion, but still the Senate under his leadership moved ahead steadily and with dispatch. President Johnson is not the lightning fast reader and talker as his predecessor was. He likes to talk slowly likes to slip in anecdotes and to make sure that his meaning is fully taken on any one subject before he moves onto another. President Johnson has a considerable streak of toughness in him and surprisingly to most liberal Democrats at least he has along liberal record behind him. He came to Congress in 1937 as a very strong supporter of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. So strong and so vocal in fact that President Roosevelt brought the young Congressman to Washington aboard the Presidential yacht. He served as a Federal Youth Official in Texas. A Negro college President in that state has long since revealed that Lyndon Johnson kept their colleges going during the Great Depression by channeling federal funds in their direction. Unlike former President Truman President Johnson has not only been kept on the inside of the secrets of the Kennedy Administration he has also been sent as a spokesman around the world and has gotten a good taste of world problems and more important perhaps the way other nations view the United States and Washington. The big question of course in any sudden change of Presidents at mid administration (I think this is what he said, but not sure) is which of the members of the organization which President Kennedy so painstakingly built up President Johnson is going to feel comfortable with. He will of course review the entire administration man by man and in time the shape of his own new administration will begin to show. One historical and inescapable fact must always be born in mind the Presidency is an office of great weight. It has enormous momentum. And as every President since Franklin D. Roosevelt has discovered the office tends to mold and shape the man to a form that few of his friends would have guessed at beforehand. Tomorrow Lyndon Baines Johnson will sit at the desk of the President of the United States and the molding shaping process on our new President and his government will begin. This is George Herman at the White House now back to Harry Reasoner:

We understand that Adlai Stevenson has just made a statement at the White House and we’re going to switch there

now for that statement by videotape.

The tragedy of this day is is beyond any instant comprehension. All of us knew him (licks) will bear the grief of his death until the day of ours and all men everywhere who love justice

Someone says: Louder?

and freedom and peace will bow their heads. At such a moment one can only turn to prayer

Someone says: Well we can’t move. What?

Prayer to comfort our grief to sustain Mrs. Kennedy and  his family and to strengthen President Johnson and to guide us in time to come. May God help us all.

========================

A lot of things are being said and wondered about the new President tonight but only he can know what it is to be called upon suddenly to take on the burdens of that office. The weight of grief of concern were apparent as President Johnson returned to Washington this evening.

This is a sad time for all people. We have suffered a loss that cannot be weighed. For me it is a deep personal tragedy. I know that the world shares the sorrow that Mrs. Kennedy and her family bear, I will do my best. That is all that I can do. I ask for your help and Gods.

I don’t really know if it is possible but I heard him sayhumans so I went back to hear it again and he said again the word humans and then when I went back again to be sure that I heard correctly then in its place he said people all within a minute or so while transcribing this just now. Hmmm:)

=======================

As the new President is being studied by the world the late President is being mourned. Throughout the country there will be services of grief and tribute. Tonight in Los Angeles a Memorial Mass is held for John F. Kennedy. Our reporter is Charles Coralt:

Kids singing a hymn.

This is Charles Coralt

(whispering in some dark corner)

at the Our Lady Chapel in South Street in Los Angeles. Our father John Sheridan is officiating at a solemn Requiem Mass for the late President Kennedy:

I guess a hymn where they sing back and forth between the guy in a wrap/cape and the kids
in another language…probably spanish maybe latin, not sure cause they are singing it.

Ask Almighty God in his mercy in the words of another martyred President.
Ask him to give us the strength to rededicate ourselves to a new
birth of freedom and family virtue.
The gover-ment of the people
and buy the people and for the people
shall not parish from the earth.
(He says severely.)
Um I  think he misquoted the bible, but Whatever.

Hurry get this guy some blood he looks very very thirsty! You should hear his voice like Boris Karloff.
Maybe the actors in Hollywood are broke and are desperately trying to get work? I think something else is occurring and has been occurring to these actors that we were not aware of and if I knew what that was I would tell ya, but I’m only human.
This has been a high requiem mass from Our lady’s Chapel on South Flora Street in Los Angeles.
Several hundred people will have come to this chapel during the day to join millions of other Americans of
Whatever Faith in praying for the late President and his family.
This is Charles Coralt in Los Angeles we return you now to our CBS News Headquarters in New York :
Do they test these guys? He looks out of his mind. Really.
 =====================================
As this day draws to a close here is a brief summary of its events past and to follow: Upon todays assassination of President Kennedy Lyndon B. Johnson became the new President of the United States. The body of President Kennedy will Lie-in-Repose in the East Room of the White House all day tomorrow Saturday. On Sunday a cortege will move the late President to the Rotunda of the Capitol where he will Lie-in-State on Sunday afternoon and on Monday. the White House announced that former Presidents Eisenhower and Truman will go to Washington this weekend to join the nation in it’s official mourning. On Monday at noon, Boston’s Richard Cardinal Cushing a close friend of the Kennedy family will officiate at a pontifical requiem mass in Washington St. Matthew’s Cathedral.
Throughout this weekend President Johnson will be briefed by the men who are now his Presidential advisors as those Cabinet and government officials return to their posts in the Capitol.
In Dallas the business of bringing the assassin to justice continues. Police say they have a prime suspect in 24 year old Lee Harvey Oswald a pro Castro Marxist who once defected to Russian then returned to this country claiming disillusionment with the Soviet System. For the moment Oswald has been charged with the murder of a Dallas policeman killed on a street near the assassination scene and Dallas police say there will be no further announcement tonight on their inquiry.
Texas Governor John Connally the second victim of the shooting is reported in satisfactory condition at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He is expected to recover.
The CBS Television Network will broadcast no commercial messages nor entertainment programming until after the burial of President Kennedy probably on Tuesday in Boston Massachussetts. CBS News will return on the network tomorrow and throughout the weekend to continue to report on the latest developments as President Johnson assumes his new duties and responsibilities. Our report from CBS News Headquarters will resume at 8:00 o’clock tomorrow morning Eastern Time. This is Harry Reasoner. Good Night.
This was a CBS News Special Report
This is the CBS Television Network
End
Harry looks a bit miffed too. An odd finale for the day. I really do think he is upset as I watched him in the earlier parts of this series. I am upset too. And it is upsetting to see other people upset and in a bad predicament. I think he has done a great job at his post. Probably the best he can do under the circumstances.

Parts 59-60

JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 59)

The city of Dallas which uh in the last 48 hours has seen the assassination of President Kennedy and then today the murder of the man who uh was accused by Dallas Police of of uh carrying out that assassination Lee Harvey Oswald. Is a city racked this afternoon apparently with telephoned threats against various figures in the uh situation down there. (licks o:39/10:26)

Whether these are crank threats or not, of course, uh police have no way of knowing. There was one just a short while ago to the home of Mayor Cabell of Dallas who was en route to Dallas airport to take a plane to a new to Washington for the funeral services along with Judge Sara Hughes to administer the Oath of Office uh to President Lyndon Johnson uh 99 minutes after President Kennedy’s death on Friday.

Strange sentence and does not make any sense because the oath of office occurred on a plane to Washington a few days earlier.

Something is definitely amiss in that sentence!

That uh call uh that telephone anonymous threat to the home of Mayor Cabell resulted in extra police precautions at Dallas airport where they held up the flight to offload all of the luggage to check it against any possibility of a bomb being placed aboard.

There also is a telephone threat to a lawyer who had defended Jack Rubenstein the man accused of the murder of Lee Oswald. The threat uh telephoned to his home after the attorney had appeared on television to say that he would defend uh uh Ruby or Rubenstein uh if he was asked to be his attorney. This threat said that if uh he did defend Rubenstein he would be next as the threat went. All anonymous telephone calls and there is no particularly any significance as yet uh being placed on that.

We reported earlier that the Homicide Chief Captain Will Fritz of the Dallas Police Department feels that the case is closed with the death of Lee Harvey Oswald. He has said all along that the evidence against Oswald was conclusive and final and that he had no accomplices although he acknowledges that Oswald did not say anything either during interrogation or in the hour and 15 minutes he lived after the bullet was uh sent into his body in the basement of the Dallas Police Station as he was trying to be, as they were trying to take him from the City Jail to the uh County Jail. And of course the uh US Secret Service and the FBI has not been heard from yet uh what as to whether they would consider the case closed and as far as we know their investigation is continuing and as a matter of fact Captain Fritz says that they will continue to dig up evidence against Oswald, and in that sense the case is not closed.

Testimony Of J. W. Fritz

Will Fritz is the man leading the men holding Oswald when the shot was fired  who opens his arms, but just stands there dumbfounded (but of course I don’t know him and possibly he did not hear the shot and may have been stunned by the honk of the car and he is old so might be naturally slow to react and he was in front of Oswald and may not have been visually aware and possibly he may be hearing impaired. ) He does act guilty in my opinion in the film in the garage. However, I did read his testimony and found him to be believable whether or not he was truthful. But someone by the name of Ball interviewed him. If it was George Wildman Ball, then I am suspicious of the interview itself. And in Part 5 of this series in the second picture of that post when Oswald is walking down the hallway to go into an office with people crowding around the hallway at the City jail in Dallas is a man that looks like George Wildman Ball who is a diplomat and the 7th ambassador to the UN in a cowboy hat. Why would he be in the hallway in Dallas with Oswald when he was supposed to be manning the State Department in Washington DC for the protection of the many dignitaries that showed up to the funeral of JFK?

Will Fritz : Biography

On 22nd November, 1963, Fritz was on duty at the Trade Mart when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. He then went to Dealey Plaza and was with Seymour WeitzmanRoger Craig, Eugene Boone and Luke Mooney when the rifle was found on the sixth floor of the Texas Book Depository.

==========================

This is a CBS News Special Report

One Sunday In November

It is ten o’clock at night now in Washington DC and still the long line of people waiting to pass by the body of the dead President winds like a dark river up the great steps outside the Rotunda of the Capitol.

They are still filing slowly through the Rotunda now ask the flag draped casket which rests on the same cata that held the body of Abraham Lincoln almost a hundred years ago. They will probably continue to file past all night long until tomorrow when the body of President Kennedy begins its last journey to a grave among the nations heroes at Arlington National Cemetary.

 This is Charles Collingwood.

This day of sorrow began in mourning and solemn ceremony for a martyred President, but before it was over the mood had been jarred by one more moment of grisly melodrama. Lee Harvey Oswald the accused assassin of President Kennedy was himself murdered in Dallas, Texas. He was shot in full view of the television cameras as millions caught up in the national tragedy were watching the funeral cortege prepared to leave the White House for the Capitol.

The ceremonies in Washington were echoed throughout the nation and the world today as people of every religion and from every walk of life gathered in churches and public places to  mourn President Kennedy.

In President’s home city of Boston

Cardinal Cushing celebrated a solemn mass of requiem.

Cardinal Cushing says somethings in Latin which I can’t translate.

No telling what he is invoking, or who.

Shortly after noon today while many of this country were still in church the cortege began to form outside the White House to carry the body of President Kennedy in funeral procession to the Capitol there to Lie-In-State.

At this moment in Dallas, Texas a procession of another kind was being formed to transfer Lee Harvey Oswald the accused assassin to another jail. Extraordinary precautions were taken there to ensure his safety, but newsmen and cameras were on hand eager for any glimpse of the accused man. As television viewers watched this scene at the White House proceeding according to the order and protocol prescribed for such occasions,

something happened in Dallas and the scene suddenly switched.

Obviously, this segment by Charles Collingwood is not

“As it happened”

but a synopsis of the events back then:

This film also shows the armored truck blocking the driveway of the City Jail and then it had to be moved in order for the ambulance to leave the City Jail with Oswald. So how did the ambulance get in if the Armored truck was blocking the driveway. Oh well.

Can’t say for sure but looks to me like the

Armored truck was used to facilitate this event.

A private remedy,

if,

in fact, it is real.

For Pete’s sake Tommy Lee Jones is a policeman in this scene.

He’s an actor!

Are we living in two different parallel worlds?

Makes you wonder or me anyway who is controlling who.

Rome? The Vatican? Washington? London? Dallas?

Paris?

Hollywood? Berlin?

I don’t think anyone really knows and everyone was and is grappling to be on top

symbolically, monetarily, militarily, spiritually etc

I read one of Tommy Lee Joneses biographies on line and not one of the bios about him mention anything about JFK, Jack Ruby, Oswald, or that he was a policeman. Was that policeman a double?

Or has his memory been erased?

Which is weird because he is starring in a sequel of the movie

titled Men in Black about that very same theme.

Tommy Lee Jones did attend High School in Dallas at St. Mark’s in Highland Park/University Park area of Dallas near the Methodist Church where Dr. Dickinson presided. Dr. Dickinson led the Benediction and prayer at The Dallas Trade Center where JFK was going to give his speech,

but was assassinated minutes before in downtown Dallas.

Dr. Dickinson also blamed everyone in the audience for the death of JFK,

just as Jackie blamed “them” for JFK’s death

even though it appears that she pulled the trigger.

Also Dr. Dickinson acted in charge of  Secret Service and policemen investigation

at the School Book Depository.

When Jackie and President Kennedy were at the breakfast in Ft. Worth before they came to Dallas Jackie licks at some flowers on the table in front of her. I think in those flowers are the flowers called Devil’s Breath. It is used in the making of an anecdote for sea sickness, (something Onassis would know about being a shipping tycoon) but also if used incorrectly can make people controllable like a machine and not remember anything. In the post linked below are snapshots and the video of her flower fetish. It might explain a lot of bad behavior from many people and possibly might explain the excessive licking.

Perhaps that is symptom of that drug.

Perhaps it can be used in little biscuits to control parishioners.

Maybe that is what the tongue Cues are all about.

There sure are a lot of them.

Here is a post called:

Rev. David Wilkerson and Evangelicalism

In any case I think

This is a sick religious conspiracy.

The press and many of the interviewees and Jackie seem to lick a lot at certain moments which I have tried to show in this series throughout and it definitely has some kind of meaning.

Does it have to do with Slick Willie/Clinton?

Speaking in tongues?

Billy Graham seems to be ensconsed in this whole event

and events before and afterwards

befriending everyone involved in

one way or another and quite a few were erased or assassinated!

Not much of a friend ….is he?

============================

Back to Charles Collingwood and the scene in Dallas and I guess I will go through it again.

Car honks and someone yells: Here he is.

Car honks again and someone yells: Here he is.

Then Oswald is shot.

Newsman casually remarks: This is the basement floor of the Dallas City Hall and thats a scuffle on the basement floor it seems to….. cannot understand the few last words he says.

Then a voice that sounds like Tommy Lee Jones says: has been shot, Oswald has been shot.

Newsman casually reporting:  Lee Oswald. We’re going to…

Now it sounds like John Cusak with curly hair: Oswald has been shot.

Newsman casually reporting: switch now

Sounds like John Cusak with curly hair again: Police

Screen goes black and returns to the scene with a bunch of newsmen or actors crowding in front of camera:

Man that looks like John Cusak with curly hair: The situation is now that Lee Harold Oswald has been shot. The man who saw the shot fired said it was fired by a man wearing a black hat, a brown coat. A man that everyone down here thought was a Secret Service Agent.

Someone else says: Oswald came out

Man that looks like John Cusak with curly hair says: The Oswald was moved immediately from the area. No one knows at this time where Lee Harold Oswald is at the present time word is that an ambulance is being ready to take Oswald away. We can hear sirens outside and an ambulance apparently is….

Screen goes black. Screen reaapears again.

Man that looks like John Cusak with curly hair says: Moving down here to the basement. Here comes the ambulance.

everyone scrambles about

Man that looks like John Cusak with curly hair says: and uh Oswald will be removed now. the ambulance is being pulled up in front of us here

Someone else says:…unbelievable

Someone else says: Stand back!

Man that sounds like the man that looks like John Cusak with curly hair says: Here someone has

Someone else says: Stand back !

Someone says: Lee Get back! (Are they talking to Tommy Lee Jones?)

Someone else says: Back

Someone says: All right. Come on.

Someone else says:  Okay. Just get low. Okay. Okay. Okay.

Man that sounds like the man that looks like John Cusak with curly hair says:  Pat, can you move? Okay, Pat move just a little to your left.

I think so that the camera can get a view of Oswald and the gurney.

Someone says: We can see now that police are cordoning off newsmen from the basement in Dallas City Hall so that uh Lee Oswald can be taken to an ambulance that was just brought into the basement of the City Hall.

We’re switching now to Bob Hoffhacker downstairs.

By the way the man that sounds like the man that looks like John Cusak with curly hair is called Bob Hoffhacker and Lee (I think):)

Oswald will be moved quickly outside. The only word so far is that the shot came from a man wearing a black hat and a coat.

Here comes Oswald:

He’s, he is ashen and unconscious at this time now being moved in. He’s not moving. He’s in the ambulance now. An attendant, police are quickly climbing in.

They are now having to remove the armored truck.

Why? Because it was blocking the entrance I think.

Someone else  from upstairs says: This is the armored truck on the outside of the Dallas Police Department. It’s being moved out on to Commerce Street and now the ambulance has coming out. The ambulance with Lee Harvey Oswald who was shot just a few minutes ago as he was being transferred to the from was planning to be transferred from the City Jail to the uh County Court House.

========================

Back to Charles Collingwood recounting the same event:

In the basement of the Court House policemen, reporters, and cameramen were waiting for Oswald to come down an elevator there to the right to be transferred to another jail. A man named Ruby was waiting, too.

The scene began with the familiar routine of news coverage of public events, the officers come down.

There goes Ruby toward Oswald, he’s firing. Oswald slumps to the floor and as he does the police officers beside him leap upon Ruby as we now know him to be after the confusion had sorted itself out throw him to the ground then they take him and take him away from this basement and take him upstairs to a cell to be questioned.

Meanwhile if you look toward the left of the picture underneath the headlight you will see the body of Oswald still lying there. Now they’re beginning to pay attention to the man who was killed by that assassins’s bullet. Oswald still lying on the floor as the police officers now move in to take away the murderer and to give some kind of attention to Oswald lying there mortally wounded on the floor.

News is rather-like brainwashing in a way. If you repeat something over and over and over again they say that soon you will believe it.

JFK’S ASSASSINATION (CBS-TV COVERAGE)(PART 60)

Dan Rather:

Just a few moments ago the District Attorney of Dallas County Henry Wade came out at Dallas Police Headquarters to give what he said was every shred of information, all evidence that he knew that he that Dallas Police had gathered since lee Oswald the man accused of killing the President. So now we bring you that report of the Dallas County District Attorney what he says is his full report on the evidence against Lee Oswald.

The purpose of this News Conference is to detail some of the evidence against Oswald

for the assassination of the President. (licks)

first lick

This evidence was gathered by largely the Dallas Police who did an excellent job on this with the help of some Federal agencies. And I’m going through the evidence piece by piece uh for you. Number one: Some of this you will already know some of it you won’t. I don’t think. (licks again.)

uhhh. As a…. As all of you do know first there was a ….we have a number of witnesses that saw the person with the gun on the sixth floor of book store building the window detailing the window where he was looking out. Inside this winda the police found a row of books, cases, boxes hiding someone sitting in the winda from people on the same floor lookin’ in. Uh, on the window was some boxes where in the little circle around the window by the book cases some boxes were where apparently, where the person was sitting because he was seen from that particular window. (licks again) On this box that the ‘fendant ( ? ) was sitting on his palm print was found and was identified as his. (HUGE LICK)

The three ejected shells

were found right by the box. The shells were of an odd caliber of the type and later determined were of the gun that was found on the floor. (licks again)

The gun was hidden on this same floor behind some boxes uh and uh some book cases. (licks again) It has I think you know have has been identified as having been purchased last March by the Oswald from a mail order house (licks again) by an through uh through an assumed named name Hydale (Hydell/Hidell ?) mailed to a post office box here in Dallas. (licks again—–>)

On his person was a pocket book. In his pocket book was identification card with the same name and post office box on it. Pictures were found by the defendant with this gun and pistol on in his holster. (BIG LICK)

 Ammediately

that morning

that is an unusual,

but that morning a neighbor brought

the Oswald

from Irving, Texas.

(licks again)

=========

Kind of a weird reference to Lee Oswald as if he is not human calling him

“The Oswald”

more like an object, a weapon, a patsy and an ant.

(to tidy things up, so to speak.)

Like the feet of them

in the Book of Acts that whisked Ananias and Sapphira away.

A VERY PRIDEFUL EVENT IN CHRISTIANITY !

=========

He usually brought him on Monday morning I think but this day he went home one day early on Thursday night the and came back (HUGE LICK AGAIN)

uh to uh with this fella when he came back he had a package under his arm uh that he said was winda curtains, I believe, or window shades. Uh the wife said he had the gun the night before. It was missing that morning after he left. He got out around 8:00 o’clock and went to the building (licks again) behind some cars and went to work.

A police officer immediately after the uh assassination (licks again) ran in the building and saw this man in a corner and started to arrest him, but the manager of the building said he was an employee and was alright. Every other employee was located, but this defendant (?) of the company. (licks again)

A description and name of him went out by police to look for him. The next we hear of him is on a bus where he got on a bus at Lamar Street, told the bus driver the President had been shot. (licks again.) the president, told the lady all this is verified statements that told the lady on the bus that uh the President h’d been shot and said how’d he know and he says the man back there told him went back to talk to him. The defendant (?) said yes he’s been shot and laughed very loud. (Big lick) Uh….

 Someone asks: To a lady?

A lady. He then the bus. He asked the bus driver to stop got off at a stop caught a taxi cab driver.

 Someone asks: where?

In Oak Cliff. Uhh I don’t have the exact place and went to his home in Oak Cliff. Changed his clothes hurriedly and left. As he left uhhh three witnesses saw a police officer, Officer Tippit. Motioned to him or say something to him. He walked up to the car. Officer Tippit stepped out of the car and started around it. He shot him three times and killed him (Huge Lick) with

Someone asks: In front of the boarding house?

No. It’s not in front of the boarding house!

Someone asks: (I think they ask) Where is it?

I don’t have the exact, it’s more than a block. It’s a block or two. (Licks)

Someone asks: Was he on foot when Tippit saw him?

Yes, he was on foot and apparently headed to the Texas Theater

He then walked across a vacant lot.

Witnesses saw him eject the shells from the revolver (licks again)

and place… reload the gun.

Someone saw him go in the Texas theater. A search was made of that later by a number of police

officers at the time (licks again)

An officer of the Dallas Police ……him and asked him to come out. Uh he struck at the officer. Put the gun against his head and snapped it, but did not uh but the bullet did not go off.

We have the snapped bullet there. (licks again)

Officer, Officers obtued/optued him (Is that a word?) at that time.

(Oh I think he meant subdued or obtained him. I guess he was combining words)

Someone asks a question I do not understand.

Henry Wade answers:….back there; Against the officer’s head.

Someone asks: Do you know why the gun didn’t go off?

Someone else asks for the officer’s name.

Henry Wade answers: MacDonald was his name. It snapped, it was a misfire. Uh.. (licks again) Then uh officers subdued him some …..officers subdued him there in the theater and he was brought to the Police Station here. It missed the firing pin on the pull on the … The shell didn’t explode. It… they have it where it hit it, but didn’t explode.

A bunch of muffled questions by reporters.

Henry Wade answers: It didn’t fire the shell.

 Someone says:

Henry Wade answers:  There was one officer who said that he pulled the trigger, but he managed to put his thumb in the in the uh in the…

Someone else says:

before the firing pin and it didn’t make the ………..

It appears to me

that there is a lot of licking going on

and prompting by the press

and rehabilitation by the press

to add credibility to this press conference which is obviously

incredible.

=======================================================

========================================================

Back to Dan Rather:

That was the District Attorney of Dallas County Henry Wade giving reporters all of the information revealing all of the evidence he said that Dallas Police have on the late Lee Oswald.

A short question and answer period uh followed what you just saw there, but that was the meat of what the Dallas District Attorney had to say.

Oswald of course was gunned down in Dallas this morning in the basement of the City Jail and Police Station Building. We now will show you the film of Oswald being shot in the basement still framed.

Watch the hat in the right hand corner of the frame.

Watch Oswald’s eyes as they seem to catch the eye of the assassin. His head turns. He looks at the assassin and his eyes never leave him.

Which is ridiculous because the film shows a man’s head in front of the camera so how would anyone know that his eyes never left him, because as soon as you see Oswald again he is looking forward again. I imagine when Oswald turned his head was when the epithet was screamed at him not included in the film.

But I digress because this is probably an act anyway.

The assassin moves in. The assassin with the pistol just a few inches from Oswald’s abdomen, fires a shot, Oswald grimaces, falls to the floor in pain.

Yet this film doesn’t display that portion of this act.

Police officers immediately grab the assassin identified as Jack Rubenstein and hustle him back off into the building. Just after that Lee Oswald died in Parkland Hospital. He died almost the same time of day shortly after one o’clock and in the same hospital that President Kennedy died in on Friday afternoon. It was that kind of day in grim solemn and shamed Dallas today.

(Sticks out his Tongue)

This is Dan Rather in Dallas Texas.

=========================================

Back to Charles Collingwood:

It is a bizarre story

This strange interplay of faith

which somehow interlocked the destinies of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Lee Oswald, and Jack Ruby.

But what Jack Ruby did has not solved the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

As far as the FBI is concerned it hasn’t closed the case. A spokesman tonight said that while there is very strong evidence some of which we heard from District Attorney Wade that Oswald was the killer the FBI is continuing its investigation. As you know Oswald maintained his innocence his his innocence until the last.

The Chief of the Homicide division of the Dallas Police Department says He does not con…..Wow that was a bad edit or a tongue twister  in 3 syllables although he does consider the assassination a closed case he added that his force too will continue searching for information. (licks)

Why does Charles Collingwood think this is a

strange interplay of faith?

Does he know something others at that time did not know?

Or did the press know and participated

and just failed to tell the American people

that the assassination of JFK,

and the assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald by Jack Ruby

was a religious conspiracy!

(If it really happened…..that is.)

Not once do the CBS reporters in this you tube compilation

refer to faith as the reason for this treason

until now.

It is obvious that Billy Graham knew, and Cardinal Cushing knew,

Rev. Wilkerson knew, Dr. Dickenson knew,

and the participants in Vatican ll knew.

Did our government know?

Charles Collingwood knew.

Why didn’t he say so from the get go?

Did JFK know?
